Hey gang,
I’ve build 5 packs so far. One for me, my wife and two friends.
We were given access to one of the stunt packs for the weekend and given permission to pull a mold. All the castings I made were in hand laid fiberglass with a gel coat. We were give molds taken from wands and made a few castings for our packs.
That was about 13 years ago or so.
Now I’m looking to build a hero pack.
I’ve already ordered/acquired:
Ordered one of Throwing Chicken’s new wand kit.
Ordered Crix’s pack and wand lights and sound kit.
I already have an Alice Pack
I have most of the greeblies.
Looking to acquire:
Metal/aluminum wand knobs
Some of the other pack add-ons
Trying to decide on pack decals
And last but certainly not least a hero shell. I’m having a really hard to trying to decide who’s to order. Can I please get some feedback on who sells shells and your concerted opinion? Specifically, what do people think about the shell being sold in the GB Shop, Vincenzo330, pchrisbosh1, nickatron. They all look so good.
It’s been a few years since I was a regular on this board and I know a lot has changed. I’ve read a lot but I can’t possibly read every thread and know every detail. Your help is appreciated. Thanks.
You can find most of what you are looking for in the GbFans shop, decals, dry rubs, etc. As for the shells, you are absolutely right. There are a LOT of great shells being made right now. (It’s a magical time to be a fan!)
My shell came from the GBfans shop, and I love it. That’s not to say that the other sellers don’t have awesome parts, too, that’s just where I got mine. Nick has awesome parts and has the option to choose between a Semi-Hero shell with the ion arm, booster tube and N-Filter all cast in, or a Hero shell where those items are separate, which might be something to think about.
I haven’t seen all the shells in person myself, so I can’t really comment on them specifically, so it’s going to come to personal preference. I can tell you, without a doubt, that you would be perfectly happy with any of the ones you listed above because they are all great pieces by talented artists.

I have a PCB1 shell. Let me tell you, it’s been an absolute dream to work with!
As the previous 2 have said. All of the shells you mention are nice.
The GBFans shell and Vincenzo330 shell are the same, except that V330 hand lays his fiberglass and re shop shells are done with a chop gun. I had a pack that had a V330 shell and I loved it.
Pchrisbosh1 made an amazing shell and many consider it to be the best fan made shell available. I had one and it was really nice
Nick A Tron is different than the other 2 because his shells are cleaned up versions of a shell that has a tie to the original production (very long story). He offers a Hero shell that is just like the ones in the films. It has none of the add-on parts molded into it. He also offers a Semi Hero shell that is just like the light weight packs built for GB2. It has the Ion Arm and Booster Tube molded into the pack shell exactly like the production semi hero’s did. I have a Semi Hero shell coming from Nick and I am very excited to get working on it.
I hope this helps and wasn’t to much info overload. In the end you have to look at pics and build threads and decide which shell you prefer.
Does anyone have an interior pic of the GBFans shell? Is it laid flat after being shot in?
