XGB with movie styling!

Hey all, Adam here. I wanted to unveil my latest creation. Using Colin’s XGB pack plans and using a little ingenuity, I proudly present my Extreme pack styled as if it was in the movies. I wanted to try something different since I have built 4 and refitted 3 of the 4 movie packs. I am really happy with how this turned out. Please excuse the messy floor!

The pack:

I wanted something a little more stable for the thrower. Plus I was never keen on how the thrower mounted in the cartoon.

I also have a quick video of the light system it has. No gun lights yet

I took it with my camera that’s why its tilted

Questions or comments welcome!

That’s pretty damn cool. Not a lot of people do the whole XGB pack thing but you managed to make it work and gave it a new, movie look. You should snap some pictures of somebody wearing it with a full costume. I’d like to see how it compares to an original pack.

well done sir, well done

Griff

I like this a lot. The lights work very well, and the only problem i saw is the dial on the thrower and how the lines look.

It look good. I like the movie look. Coude you have do something diffinte with the noes go the gun. All the XGB Proton Packs guns do not look like the ones on the show. I know your going with a movie look an all but the gun coude be batter. :sigh:

That actually looks great!

It’s a neat work up, I can’t say I like EGB packs - I just don’t like the design mind you, but thta looks better than whats on the show I think.

Thanks everybody. LordVego, you’re totally right about the dial. It was one of those things that you try it and see if it works and it really didn’t. I’ll probably make a “plate” out of plastic and cover the notches.

Thanks for the feedback everybody!

Nice work, turned out really good and I like the tweaks to make it more movie like.

Thanks Colin. I couldn’t have done it without your tutorial though

Great job on the pack and thrower; it does look like it came from a live action EGB movie!

i like the movie look better

How did you do this??? I joined the Alabama Ghostbusters a while back and I’m actually trying to work on getting my own pack. I would love to make one like this. Could you give me some tips? I’ve found a few rough outlines on how to make one but still don’t know how to go about doing it. I’d even be willing to buy this from you if you wanted to sell it. I really like the looks of this. Somtimes new is better.

I agree, very nice work though.

Yeah…I got to get and or make one of these. Heck ya.

looks good man and I agree with Jedigrandmaster it would be interesting to see what it looks like with a full costume.

do you have a parts list and/or tutorial for the gun? im looking to do something like kylie formy gf’s costume

Hey guys!

I’m actually really surprised to see this thread pop up again. As far as tutorials go. 90% was taken from Colin’s (irricanian) excellent plans, which are in the Tutorials forum. The gun was a more original idea. I was never keen on the “sprayer” type and wanted something larger and more intimidating.

Since it’s been so long since I built it, I’m going to try and list everything for the gun from memory.

1in PVC

1in PVC Elbow

2 medium project boxes from Radio Shack

3 in PVC

3 in to 2 in PVC coupler

3in PVC plug

Cap from Laundry detergent

Not pictured is a toggle activation box (trigger box) on the left side of the thrower handle. I added that after these pics were taken.

1 screw terminal toggle switch (Walmart)

and an enclosure made from styrene.

Unfortunately I didn’t write down the measurements for the thrower. It was more just experimenting and building something that looked cool. But with any scratch built prop, there’s always trial and error. I’m sure that using the list of materials I provided and a little ingenuity, a duplicate could be built. I’m working on getting this one back from my friend in Knoxville, but that unfortunately requires building a new movie pack to trade out. So time will tell.

I’m just happy that everyone is enjoying it. I’m also working on an RGB/movie Hybrid as well.

Dude I seriouslly love this thing I’m gonna try and make the thrower from what you listed I’ve been itching to try to build something. I’m also working on ecto-goggles that are not accurate but have a ton of lights.
