I used a steel rod that came in some old Technic set or something like that through the round bricks on the handle, so you can actually pick it up. The two side panels pop off and it’s fairly hollow inside, but the frame is made of technic bricks so it is very sturdy.
Not sure if I can get a good shot of how it works, but it is simple enough. The doors are attached to 4 linked gears on both narrow sides (so they open together), and one of those gears on the backside is attached to a gear that does the actual turning (it is linked to the motor by two perpendicular wheels that are bound by a twisting rubber band that acts as a belt). Not sure if that makes any sense…
