Lately I’ve been doing a fair bit of research on the subject of attacks of 9/11 , building 7 specifically and I was wondering what everyones honest opinion was on the official story.
I am mostly interested in what my American friends thoughts are but other input is also welcomed. Now before anyone goes off on me about “conspiracy theories” and all that nonsense please understand I am not one of those people, I only want honest input here and don’t want to debate about it. The science speaks for itself.
So the question is…Do you believe what the 9/11 commission report stated?
If you don’t want to post your opinion publicly I would gladly take a PM
Yes, I can assure you that it is in fact correct. During a class in college we had to take particular sides on a subject and our class chose to do 9/11. There was a “conspiracy” side and “commission report” side. I talked to quite a few people, including family members who were experts in aviation, construction, architecture, and seismology.
The “evidence” theorists like to point out is loose at best and down right laughable at worst. Any kind of basic understanding of physics can explain mostly what happened during the attack. The problem here is that (like the holocaust) some people just don’t know how to accept the reality of the situation. Especially Americans. We are raised to think that our country is the apex of military might in the world and that no one would dare think an attack on us out side of a full scale nuclear Russian invasion.
Some people just cannot accept the fact that sometime really bad things happen. And we are mostly sheltered from it, even some of the most worldly Americans are still shielded from how rough the world actually is. Not to use a bad movie quote, but they literally can’t handle the truth, and look for alternate explanations to ease their anxiety.
Official story. There is no evidence of a US-involved conspiracy or a cover up. I remember hearing a recording of the Popular Mechanics writers debating live with the creators of Loose Change; all the Loose Change kids could do what laugh and throw out BS, then get pissed when the PM guys said something like “we can’t debate something you’ve just made up”.
What a timely thread. I just had a retired surgeon who was at one of the hospitals blocks away from the World Trade Center when the planes struck the two towers speak to my class today. He re-hashed his memory of what happened, the eerie-ness and silence and dust after the buidlings fell. He was expecting a flood of injured swamping the ER, but most perished in and around the towers instead. He brought in some sample photos of the signs and pictures people posted at his hospital who were hoping and looking for word or resolution of what happened to their loved ones who were in the towers. Sad stuff.
A shame that there are people out there who believe 9/11 was a government fabricating conspiracy. And a shame that there are those who want to release the detainees in GTMO.
I believe the official story. Some “Truther” was trying to tell me that the reason why Building 7 went down (avoiding the fact that thousands of pounds of debris slammed into it and that it was on FIRE for like…11 hours or something) was because, quote:
“BUSH HAD SECRET DOCUMENTS AND WANTED TO DESTROY THEM SO HE ORDERED THE SECRET DEMOLITION OF BUILDING 7!”
Of course he shut up once I mentioned a Paper Shredder and a book of matches. Man, sometimes those people are just so damn stupid.
The shit on the internet about 9/11 infuriates me.
No, that shit isn’t true.
Yes, the official story is.
For people to suggest that the U.S. would intentionally attack itself and kill thousands of innocent people to promote an agenda is just unbelievable. Its truly sad that some people actually believe that shit. And they try to claim that the people who believe the true story are “sheep”… when they themselves are the sheep to believe such unfounded claims with such questionable, laughable evidence.
I’m not saying you’re doing that irricanian… just saying. This topic is a sore subject for me.
I don’t believe the conspiracy theories for one simple reason:
If Cheney and Bush really were behind it, they would have made it look like Saddam Hussein did it, instead of Bin Laden.
They obviously wished Iraq was behind it, and spent a good year trying to convince gullible fools it was anyway, but if it really was a conspiracy Saddam would have been the “obvious” culprit.
It is a sore subject for me also and I’ll tell you why. The horrible events of Sept 11th, 2001 had a major impact on the whole world, not just America and we are all seeing and feeling the effects of it on a daily basis it seems. 9/11 has changed everyone and I really don’t like what I’m seeing these days.
**I don’t know what the real truth is about what transpired but the fact is the “official story” was not complete and therefore open to questions, it was just not thorough enough for the magnatude of the event. ** For me the jury is still out until an impartial investigation by an independent, non-political and well-funded commission is fully conducted with full disclosure to the public. The world deserves that much don’t you think?
Please keep the comments coming, I want to hear everyones views.
But it then runs the danger that whatever the result they concluded with, it wouldn’t be enough to satisfy those who either by grievance, inability to fully comprehend, or simple denial who would still think there was some greater ‘truth’ at large.
My feelings on the subject are why I created this three years ago:
I believe the official story. I’ve come to find that the conspiracy jump onto the smallest things that they think proove their side of the story, but can be easily explained away, such as the so-called “exposive jets” and the bits about WTC 7, as mentioned above.
It doesn’t even make sense for the US Government to be involved.
If there was an agenda, it hasn’t bettered the world’s view on America or promoted America’s position in any way.
#2, if this was all about a reason to start wars in the Middle East, then that was a shit idea as well. When the initial anger subsided all it did was create further opposition and distrust of the US Government. And it has stretched the military so thin that you’d only leave yourselves open to more attacks.
So yeah, I fail to see how orchestrating 9/11 would’ve benefitted the Government. Maybe they’re only guilty of underestimating Bin Laden’s intelligence.
I have never heard anything about any of the other collapsed building around the towers. Could you fill in an ignorant person as to what this “official story” for building 7 is and what people don’t belive about it? Baring that at least a link to a credible synopsys of the commission report.
Personally I’ve always viewed the 9/11 attacks as cut and dry. Terrorists hyjack planes, hit buildings, buildings fall, terrorists succeed in pissing off America. The consipiracy nuts just can’t accept how easy it is to do shit like that.
here’s what I don’t understand. They are closing gitmo, and putting the terrorist/enemy combatants at the prison in Illinois right? How’s it any different? Are they going to call it Gitmo north? Is this to eventually give the inmates constitutional rights? Give them a a trial in civilian courts because they are stateside? What’s the plan here?
We can’t let them go, we’ve seen that they just go back to fighting.
As for 9/11, anytime something extremely traumatic happens, we have a need to feel like there are greater powers responsible. There’s no way 19 hijackers with box cutters killed 3000 Americans. The government had to be involved.
There’s no way one man with a rifle could kill our beloved JFK. It had to be a conspiracy.
Katrina couldn’t have destroyed those levees, someone blew them up.
Horrible things just happen sometimes, and it helps us cope by believing that such a tragedy was unavoidable because with so many conspirators involved, there is no way we could have avoided it - it was inevitable.
Of course there are some conspiracies that are quite real, Take the global warming myth for instance.
