Accurate Gun Lights/lenses, and WTF is that....

I need to know what everyone building GB1 props uses for the short wide light lense on the top of the gun box. I also need to know what you use for the light right next to the clippard barb on the instrument bar. Also, WTF is that part in the pic with the arrow going to it on the barrel assy? Never seen it before. Does anyone know what kind of light/lense is used for the white light on the gun box step? Sorry for the randomness, I am just trying to tie up loose ends as I stripe and make ribbon cables. Watching the film as I go. Thanks guys.

Do all GB1 Wands have some of the knobs painted black also? Man I keep seeing shit.

The big flat light is the top of a recessed “top hat light” like found on other parts of the gun, as you can see in your two pictures it varied from gun to gun, and might have been a different type of light in some builds… The other part you have circled is a duplicate of one of the ears on the front of the barrel, it was some sort of lock for the twisting barrel/grip…

Would you include it or not? The barrel lock I mean. As for the hat light, why only the top portion illumintaed? Seems like a different style like you said in the pic I posted. Anyone know what kind?

When you say duplicate you don’t actually mean they are the same right? Cause they aren’t. :stuck_out_tongue:

They also were how the grips were held onto the handle tube, note the screw going through it to the grip.

The reason the milky hat light is only illuminated at the top is because of how the originals were made. If you look through more of the pics there are some where you can see the metal parts inside the light which make the light pretty much only come out the top.

Any idea on where to get the flat wide lense for the top of the gun box?

As I said the general consensus is that it’s simply a recessed top hat light, they are rarer then rare, it’s pretty much the only piece I have not found yet…

Yeah they are definitely rare, I think I have only seen one person with one of them. The modern ones don’t come in the right colours. Cam and I have always planned to offer hollow casts in colour but time always seems to get the better of the project.

If you look through more of the pics of the PH hero gun you can see that the top light has the same innards as the one beside the Clippard, plus there are photos of other guns where the light is sticking out more. The one in the screen shot you posted is using an orange one like the one on the tip of the gun.

So rather than make a huge production and recess it, I should just chop off the top of one of the light caps I have, right? Thanks guys.

Actually, almost anything would work.

On my first gun I hacked off the end of a small hot glue stick and stuck it in there…

It even illuminated quite nicely but no lights were ever installed. It was just for effect until I found something else more appropriate.

And, just to echo how rare these light caps are, I stumbled upon an old animatronic control panel at Disney dating back to the 60’s…

Talk about the find of a lifetime…and NO, I can’t take it.

i have three of those orange lights in Roboprops pictures, i think someone offered them along long time ago

OH SNAP!!!

You’re probably talking about the modern LED versions of the light that were sold as a group buy a couple years ago. They only come in transparent colours, no solid orange or milky white like we need. The company that makes them also had a min order of like 50 I think, plus they were spendy too if memory serves.

I seem to remember them being $10+ each.

I’m using one of these…

Just chopped it down a bit.

Looks pretty close

I’mma use one of these if it’s compatible with exorays kit

Do all GB1 Wands have some of the knobs painted black also? Man I keep seeing s**t.

It seems to me this was the only gun that was like this with the painted knobs and orange hat light near the vent.

It must also be the one in the featurette to show off the bargraph light scrolling up and down.

The rest of the guns on screen have static non scrolling orange bar graphs.

Must have been created just for the closeup of the guns in the gozer “heat em up” scene

That would work ok, if the chrome collar could be removed to just have the amber/red light lense stick out. You would have to be dead on drilling the hole for it then. Good luck.

Just gut the existing LED out of there and replace it with the one in my kit and you will be fine… Basically just use the lens…

I found these cheap make up brushes that had frosted plastic handles…i just used a dremel cutting wheel and cut off the amount that i wanted …the brush handles came in different diameters…they light up a yellowish white when a white led is put under it. I think i found it at price busters.
