haha yea i think I’m going to take a damp rag to it and remove a lot of the dust. Also the light kit I had in there was still a prototype and had tons of wires that will eventually be etchings on a PCB board. SO for now its a mess in there. Thanks though.

After the suggestions, hate mails, and death threats.. ( ok not the last 2) I cleaned most of the rust off the pack. No longer looks like a prop from Total Recall. I will post pics tonight of the results. Also forgot to mention I WAS able to add a speaker in the wand which not only makes sound come from the vent but also creates vibration…Somewhere along the line someone said it couldn’t be done to which I reply:

Here are a few pics after clean up. Again the flash is really picking up the dust and making it look worse than it is. In real life its way more subtle.

Oh I know, I have the grips sitting about 33% done debating if I have the energy to finish them or bite the bullet and just order them from someone…decisions. They are easy enough to slap on after the fact anyways. Thanks for keeping an eye out though.

Was it worth all the trouble for the actual build just to cast it? I though of casting it but also thought about just building it in MDF and calling it done…thoughts?

ps. was an Industrial Design Major at SCAD, switched to Graphic Design (might still Minor in ID..I have about a year and a half of classes. Right now Im actually drawing a pack in “Rhino” Great program. I have mixed feelings about ID. LOVE…the 3D, just not sure if I want to sculpt out of foam everyday hahah!! idk…still go back and forth.

Worth it? Yes. I learned a hell of a lot and the reduction in weight using fiberglass over MDF was enough to seal the deal. I couldn’t imagine wearing MDF on my back for 3+ hrs at a con.
I really dig the weathering. Looks like a real thing, not some toy someone got from somewhere, or like you found some stuff around the house and glued it to a board. Very good work you did. Can’t wait to get my shell!
