Hi folks! So anyone have advice for real world objects that could be used for the spacer? I know you could do practically anything (in theory) but I want/need some community input
I was at Walmart last night and shopped around first for containers of some kind, but nothing seemed to really fit - as everything I saw, unless I heavily modified it, didn’t sit with me. Building one from scratch is not out of the question, but is a last resort for the moment, for various reasons.
A car’s air filter kept popping into my head this morning - something that is round and big enough with a hole in the center that could work in a pinch (with a little modding - would have to add the “tail” at the end of the comma, as well as cover the exterior with plastic or something.).
Should stress I’m not going for strict movie accuracy with this project, but “close enough to be awesome”, and something that could pass as real world… if that makes sense.
My project is the ATX Proton Pack 4.0 thread already up and running.
Spacer? Do you mean between the ALICE frame and the mobo? If that’s what you’re asking, some have used hockey pucks, and you could also use actual spacers you find in Hardware stores… I’ve seen chrome ones before too, and I’ve thought of using that as the spacer between my bumper and cyclotron… Might be something neat to try…
The spacer is what sits under the Cyclotron, where the hose for the thrower and wires for the power cell connect. Norm’s plans call it a “Synchronous Generator” but there other plans refer to it as just the “spacer” - it’s the comma shaped piece.
