Anarchyfor2's pack build...almost done (pics added)

Guys,

First and foremost, I would like to say thanks to all the fine people on here that have helped me by answering questions and posting great info on this site. I will be making a donation to become member shortly to show my appreciation. Here’s a little back story… From the best I can tell, this began as a wood pack build from Crix , that I purchased from another member in unpainted form. That was three years ago. I would work on this for a month or so and then box it up to wait again..Well,about a month ago, I unboxed it and vowed to finish it. I’m sure there are inaccuracies that I will work on as I go, but putting this pack on this evening was an incredible feeling. Only wish I would have taken pics along the way.

by the way, any help posting pics would also be appreciated. I’m gonna search as soon as I post this…

Looks pretty good, but a couple of things I noticed:

  • Your trigger tip should be much closer to the tip of the clear acrylic tube

  • There’s no need for the split loom on the highest blue tubing (tube going from the resistor to the top of the ion arm)

  • If you’re going to stick to the gray crank knob, you may want to swap to a GB1 Ribbon Cable, but that’s up to you

Other than that, looks pretty good, and these are just suggestions… in all honesty, only dedicated GB prop builders will notice the difference…

perfect, thanks for the suggestions. things that i never noticed. Its still a work in progress but its amazing the variants that these things have from unit to unit. thanks again.

Is that a real gray Raytheon crank knob? If so, and considering your pack is primarily GB2-styled, I would suggest putting that vintage beauty away for safe keeping for future use and buying a black crank knob from Wiz to make your pack more GB2-accurate… You don’t want to paint a vintage crank knob black… gray ones are hard to find…

nah, its a resin cast. no issues painting it at all

Edit****. Crank knob painted and split loom removed. I have accurate bolts for the ion arm coming. Do you guys have any more pointers?

I would personally untwist your ribbon cable. GB1 packs have a twisted cable. The GB2 packs had them left untwisted. Check out the reference section. Pack is looking good man

I would pop out those orange tips from the SMC fittings, or paint them, or nab some of Hijacker’s elbows from the for sale section and some Legris straight replicas from the GBFans shop, just to clean it up a bit. Those orange tips draw me in each time I see them. Otherwise, I agree with what everyone else has said, and it looks great!

thats for the tip, I have some brass/gold touch up I can hit those straights with this evening. Ill check out the reference pics in that cable tonight as well.

The only real glaring thing I see is the cosmetic plate on the bottom of the gear box. It should have grooves/teeth cut into it, but yours is completely flat, and possibly (if possible) move the label on it a tad to the right.

Other than that, I see no issues that haven’t already been addressed.

Good catch, I didn’t even see that at first glance…

Thanks so much guys
