Another Dollar Store PKE

First off, Bradester, thank you. You’re equipment has been a massive influence to me. I no longer have to dream about GB equipment that I’ll never afford.

I took your idea of using a plastic holder box and a screwdriver for a handle. I used 2 cheapo ballpoint pens from my hotel as the antennae. I’ll tape off the "screen soon as the glue dries and paint it flat black. I have a red knob to add (it is a painted Ocean Spray bottle top lol) and a black knob to add. I may cut up some playing cards to make the screen guard, but I dunno yet.

Looks nice. Good idea.

you were inspired by my trap…now i’m inspired by your pke!!

You could easily fit some LED lights in there and a AA or AAA battery pack!

Someone else in another forum took apart a cheap dollar store lightsaber for the lights on their pack… I bet you could use a couple of thoes. Maybe use slightly bigger… ummm “antennas” also to put lights on that?

Adding lights to the pens/antennas is a good idea - however you shouldn’t need anything bigger than the pens you’re using to do this. I ran individual LED’s up through two mechanical pencils in an old PKE I made, and they fit just fine.

Sounds cool. What about christmas lights? Would those work?

lol

So… I haven’t advanced this thing any further than what you see here. Why? There is no glue that wil f***ing hold the screwdriver to the back of this thing!!! I may drill a hole in the bottom and just glue the thing inside it. Maybe easier to hold it together.

I’m not going to go all out for lights. If I do any at all. a lot of effort I don’t want to go through…

I agree. My screwdriver has the same problem except I painted mine already. I’m gonna re-do a new type of glue to do it. and if all else falls, i will hot glue like bradester.

You guys tried airplane model glue or crazy glue?

Crazy.

Super glue, crazy glue, gorilla glue…

Epoxy works. I have the kind that comes in two different tubes and you mix them together. JB Weld might do it also.

In retrospect, I should have sanded the box before painting because I have a sneaking suspicion that it’s going to peel off very easily.

Oh well, it’s looking pretty good. I’ll snap a few photos and post them soon.

You could also use Wood Glue too. But thats made specifically for use on wood so that probably won’t work.

Good luck with that. Hope it doesn’t peel
