I was in my local Gamestop today and noticed that they had a new display. They had a rack with nothing but display boxes for upcoming movie games like Terminator, Transformers 2, Indiana Jones, and of coure, Ghostbusters.
There were pamphlets at the top and apparently Gamestop is trying to make this the summer of the movie game.
They have a new promotion called “Love the Movie, Live the Game”.
One of the offers gets you an extra 30% trade-in credit on your games when you apply said trade-ins to the purchase or preorder of any of the movie games. That is a pretty good offer to me since I have a few extra games lying around that I don’t play anymore.
The other offer that they have nets you a free movie pass when you buy any of their movie games. The pamphlet said “see clerk for details” so I don’t know how much the voucher is for or what theater chains it will work with, but all in all I think these are nice little extras in addition to all of the other things that Gamestop is offering.
Sorry if this old news but I didn’t see it posted before and I thought it could save someone some money if they haven’t already paid the game off yet.
I agree, yankeetrex. GameStop definitely seems to have the best preorder bonuses for those of us buying the standard edition of the game. Thanks for reporting this info, joegianco!
I wouldn’t consider that a pre-order bonus, Ray. That’s a full-out collectible edition of the game. You are not getting that as a bonus for preordering with Amazon… you are paying extra for it.
I would say that right now the best pre-order is with gamestop with the free shirt & in-game GB2 uniform followed by the Best Buy in game character(s) and last the Target gift card that comes with preordering.
The Amazon Slimer Edition is awesome, no doubt… but that’s definitely not a preorder thing.
Anyway, back on topic… This seems like a pretty good deal for those who are looking to pre-order any of those games. Kinda frustrates me though because about a month and a half ago I traded in my PS2 and a ton of PS2 games I never played & my little bro traded in a bunch of his PS2 games and we put down 100% on a preorder of the GB game for him. (He’s 10 years old and he’s just as excited about the GB game as I am! Lol) If i had only waited a little longer to do the trade in.
Oh well! lol
Anybody planning on taking advantage of this offer?
Well it’s not really a new thing for GameStop to do this. It’s just a disguised Power Trade. GameStop does it constantly to promote the usage of Reservations (Like right now there’s the Power Trade for UFC, Terminator and I think Punch-Out).
I highly doubt you’re going to get anything movie-ticket related when you buy Ghostbusters however. Possibly a coupon in-box for the Blu-Ray or DVD though. Not sure, haven’t checked that out yet.
