I’m not new to GB fandom, I loved the cartoon as a kid. Never collected the toys much (I had exactly ONE RGB action figure of Egon, and i got it because I begged for it. My dad hated 'em because they didn’t look like the actors from the film)
anyway, I’m kinda new to the modern fandom, but I really started to get into it because I see the GB costumers at Mid-Ohio Con, and the Pittsburgh Comicon every year (prolly members of this very forum).
and I’m interested in building up some props. Eventually I want a proton pack, but I’ll probably start small with a trap, or goggles or something.
That’s funny because I’m from the Cambridge/Byesville area.
As far as a pack. It depends. If you build it from wood, from scratch you’re probably looking at 300-600 dollars depending on how accurate you want it to be. If you want to save yourself alot of work, check out studiocreations.com or contact D-42 here on the boards. Both sell Vaccuformed plastic shells for decent prices. Now you’d still have to clean up, paint and get all the accessories but the pack shells cost between 65-100 bucks depending on which one you get.
If you need any advice or what not, send me a message.
I used to work for WBNV out of Barnesville. Small world huh? I actually moved out of byesville about 8 years ago. I still have friends and family there though.
Well, I’m bit with the bug. I’m trying to work out a cost projection on a proton pack, and all the other things I’d need for a costume.
Now, I’m not a new Ghostbusters fan by any means. I’m a fan of ALL of the pop culture from my youth. I became a Ghostbusters fan when I was a kid, and have been ever since.
I want a proton pack. I’m trying to find out the most economical way for me to do it. Should I save and go the “Prebuilt” route?, or should I assemble most of the parts together, and buy a shell?
This is just me thinking out loud. I know one thing for certain, I want to do a proton pack right. I don’t mind resin cast parts, as long as they’re cast from originals, or at least well made, but I will always have a mind to upgrade (real clippards, Legris elbows, dale resistors, etc.) down the line.
