Whats the best way to attach the red/blue tubes? I was going to go with a hose barb on the injector end possibly, but not sure about the other end. Thoughts?
I just drill a hole into the block on the synchronus generator, and put a safety pin thru them. Does the job well.
mine isnt hollow there. The two thick plates on the syncgen are filled for strength.
Drill it with 1/4" drill bit then drop some epoxy or hot glue down in there.
If it’s solid then I would just tap it and put hose barbs on that side as well. However you still could do the safety pin rount by giving the holes a slight angle. You don’t have to give it much of an angle at all since the block itself is angled
Tapping and barbs sounds like a better idea..
hmm, maybe ill drill into it and drop some threaded inserts in
I just tapped the shell for the same brass clippard barbs that are on the end of the injectors. That way the tubing stays put if someone decides to yank on it. The loom boots hide the barbs.
No worries about the strength of the tapped shell?
I personally think you would be ok, I usually keep the threaded inserts reserved for things that need to be put off and taken off, like the bottom of the gun.
I used barbs on both ends - four total. They stay put, no problems.
Cool, thats what I’ll do then. Thanks!
In order to get the tubing over the barbs I heat water and soak the tubes in them to make them slide over easier. Not part of the original question, but a helpful thing I found out along the way.
Hmm, much appreciated! I had a hell of a time getting my green tubing for my thrower onto the barbs. Tried heating the tubing, but never thought of heating up some water. Thanks so much!!
It works pretty slick, especially if you put a little dish soap on the barb. after the water dries, the only way you will get the tubing off the barb is by cutting it.
Ah, good call also. I just ordered some more hose barbs, so hopefully I’ll be ready to start assembling everything on my pack next week (I have the whole week off work… first time in years ive taken a day off)
Anyone know what the appropriate drillbit and tap sizes are for the hose barbs? I’m at the same point in my build.
Edit: Well, I guess I should have researched this a little more. I found the answer I was looking for at Clippard.com, so I thought I would share here in case someone comes up with the same question.
The little hose barbs are Clippard part #11752-1, and are #10-32.
