Anyone got any tips to bend styrene. On the spacer and seems like hard work so far. Trying the hairdryer approach but not getting too far. I’m guessing if a cut out a long piece I’ll more bendage then just cut out the section I need but will be more difficult to keep a big piece hot enough.
Also what is the width of the handles on the gun?
i have never tried that sort of thing.
a heat gun would work better than a hair dryer i think.
oven maybe (try at your own risk, i have never done this)? i dunno.
A heat gun works but you have to be careful getting the plastic too hot.
There also heating strips that make bending styrene super easy:

There are different kinds of different widths, etc.
Hope this helps.
You can also score the inside of the bend with a razor blade and it will bend alot easier. Just make sure you fill the score marks with like superglue then after you get the piece bent to where you want it. That’s how I did it. No heat gun required.
It didn’t just snap on you, mburkit?
Not if you score the inside of the bend. As long as you bend inwards and not the opposite, it shouldn’t break on you. I did this on a few spots on my styrene proton pack. You just have to be careful because there is always a chance for the styrene to snap, even if it’s not scored. But as long as you are careful and hit it with superglue then on the scoring, you should be fine.
I know this stuff is a little different, but when I use foamcore I also slice little lines on the underside I want to bend, mainly for the Cyclotron. Works well enough. My Spacer though is about 30 pieces. Am I nuts.

I thought it would snap, thats why I didn’t try it at first. But seems to have worked with scoring on the inside together with the hairdryer, made it a lot more flexible.
Glad it worked for you! Just make sure you hit the score marks with superglue then to make sure it all holds then and you should be golden.
