Which Proton Pack Plans I should use to make the Proton Pack Stand out, I’m basically making my own using the original look but with a twist of the Cyclotron being cooler and more popping.
I have some old of Norm’s and not sure if I should get better ones to build my own custom designed Proton Pack as I’m thinking outside the box of the original Ghostbusters Equipment and putting my own twist to it.
It’s basically like this Electron Pack from Ghostbusters Slime City to become my own twist of the Original Ghostbusters Proton Pack with the same design to it. (I’m not building this I’m only building that Cyclotron for my proton pack custom.
Norm’s are good, but they only go so far as they were produced in some of the early days of the fandom. They’re a solid starting point, but I would recommend referring to Stefan and Sean Bishop’s plans as both of those were produced more recently (Sean’s being the most recent).
Okay I’ll make the ultimate Ghostbusters Equipment Plans using all plans/blueprints inside a binder so I can start working on these soon.
Also what material is best and will provide the best strength and durability of heavy useage so I don’t have it breaking over time, I was thinking of plywood but the sides will show the plied wood pieces unless I use something to cover the layers.
As for foamboard but it’s same thing like plywood but even lighter, without further questions I’ll be building these as soon I can and design a code to make the LEDs spin in a circle with medium speeds when idle.
MDF is pretty good, it will have a degree of strength to it, and if you glue/screw/bolt everything down, that’ll make it even stronger (It’s what was used in my first Proton Pack). The downside is that the weight will make itself known. I’d also be worth investing in a waterproof cover if you’re taking it outdoors, as painted MDF probably won’t respond well to heavy rain.
I did use a bit of plywood in the central plate between the Cyclotron and the upper assembly, which’ll probably outlive the rest of the Pack someday. In regards to the piled wood, a bit of bondo/body filler and some sanding should hide the piles.
My second Pack’s going to be a fibreglass shell, which will be lighter and give a lot of space options, but the downside is the cost. If you can afford it, a fibreglass shell is definitely something to consider… But if you’re set on building it from scratch, MDF is worth looking into.
Neat I’m thinking of using whatever I can so I can house an Arudino Mega or Uno (would be tricky to make two Arduinos work together in sync like one for Power Cell level to the cyclotron design and the wand’s lights (may be seperate Arudino so not sure really on that part.)
So I’ll have to make sure the Arudino gets switched on in sync so it acts like my light system for the Leds if I do seperate builds for light and sounds from the Adafruit Sound FX board.
I’ll have to experiment on that to see what’s best for it as for sounds - I’ll have to get the Adafruit sound FX and put my sounds in the order it needs to be so it can be as good to run the sound I need to play like
press button - it plays track 1 of the start of the wand’s Proton Pack Beam then it goes to the next track to Loop until I release the button which goes next to play the end sound
