Does anyone have any thoughts on a Bob’s Prop Shop Shell? I’m looking to make a Proton Pack and came across this on ebay:

He’s got a youtube video asserting the authenticity of the shell as being derived from one of the original packs.
Has anyone ever gotten one of his shells or may be able to give me more information? Any help would be appreciated.

I figured it was too cheap to be good. This is exactly why I joined the forum because I figured you guys knew your stuff. Thanks so much for saving me money and aggravation.
The price doesn’t always reflect the quality. Sometimes you can get good gear for a good price, but you need to make sure you are buying it from the right people and not an over confident recaster.
People who sell shells here, myself included, put a lot of time and effort into our work. All of that work is ruined by people like Bob.
I sometimes sell my shells cheaper than he does and sometimes I give them away if I’m not happy with the quality of them. I don’t think that makes them any less “good”

Its really up to you to what you wanna do. Some people had good experience with his shell… some have not.
I have one of his shells and I dont have much complaints except for some warping in the fins.
Not everbody has the money to fork up big bucks for a nice high quality pack or want to wait the lead time. So if you have a low spending budget go with it. Or wait and save for a nicer shell.

I think the main point is that Bob’s a recaster - a thief. Even if his work was of high quality (it isn’t), supporting a recaster is detrimental to the community as a whole, as it rips off those who put countless hours into original research and construction.
There are plenty of people with shells that are just as inexpensive as Videobob’s shell, and they were made from scratch. Not copied from a copy of a copy.
Don’t let Videobob ■■■■ you. Proton Packs aren’t supposed to be shrunk and warped pieces of shit. That’s what happens when you have copies of copies of copies. It is night and day when you see an accurate Proton Pack made from scratch… even ones that do have the defects that are seen in the original shells.
If you buy from Videobob you are saying that you don’t care about the community at all. You are supporting a thief and a recaster. It doesn’t matter if you have the money or don’t. There are plenty of people and shells out there that are more deserving, and are just as inexpensive as the ones Videobob is selling. The quality is typically better too.

Yeah, as I’ve spent more time looking I’ve found some possible shells would work with my budget. I wanted to get feedback regarding Bob because something seemed questionable about his story regarding authenticity. I didn’t expect the shells to be recasts and such an epic saga would be involved.

But if you look on the site Mikenelson and DL4567 make really good shells.
I believe mike is selling his for 300-350 and the DL is selling for 350
If you want to wait and see if Vincenzo shells are available. Deff save and jump on that.
Also I think Loly2Kn sells shells for some what cheap but I am not sure. Alkaline Also sells but he does runs and I dont know if it is gonna happen.

Good luck with major warp in the cyclotron… its kinda con caved in if you watch the stupid video on his thread, that area alone will be one hell of a bitch to get straight. Also when you look at the video, the shells are super rough. For a guy that apparently cleaned them up and tok out the mistakes, it looks like he added more in. All I can say if hopefully you have a bulk dealer for bond at your disposal, you’ll need it.
On another note… WHY OH WHY DO PEOPLE NOT LOOK AT FEEDBACK FIRST!, you can google it, AJ and the boys have done an amazing job of capturing both ebay names or any names these goons are selling their shit from. Just open another window in your browser and take the couple seconds, it saves headaches, money, and time.
^ Highly suggest you read it, cheap parts or not, some people are scum, and if we want quality parts from good guys, everyone has to stop being duped by these recasting morons.
Other than that, welcome to the community, and hopefully your next purchase is well informed. AJ and the mods do a great job of taking out the trash so if they sell on here, chances are you can trust them, just do your homework first. Money in the true artists hands, is money well spent.
I can say for myself, I’ve never built any props and being new to the site, I didn’t even know the Forums had a Feedback Section indicating which sellers were recasters, blacklisted, etc. That is precisely why I joined, to ask questions and try and make as little mistakes as possible.

It is a learning experience. Hopefully, you didn’t pay $500 and if it anything like the offer Bob gave me, he may have thrown in a few extra goodies. Wait until you see the shell and then if you need help fixing it, hopefully the experienced folks here can give you some pointers.
I just wouldn’t go flaunting that you are using one of Bob’s shells, its buying from a recaster, which is a major no no. Some of the guys might not help you just on those grounds, I wouldn’t blame them either, some of them have been recasted off of themselves by Bob. Im not saying you are guilty or that you are a horrible person for falling into the trap of buying of of him, its just that its like buying a fake dvd… you aren’t gonna get much support from anyone when the thing doesn’t work right, especially from the people it was scammed off of.

As I mentioned before I obtained bobs shell from a friend.
I did not notice the topics about this whole ordeal and bought a pack from someone on craigslist.
It was meant to be a gift for my husband.
Well after weeks of polishing it up and getting it took look fairly decent I obtained this.
I am happy with the results but would deff not do this over again… to many headaches.

The user is known as Joseph Sciabica. He is actually dumb enough to think we can’t put two and two together from his build thread over on Bob’s Prop Shop. (And if his story about buying a pack on Craigslist wasn’t enough of a lie to cover it up.) Apparently he is posing as his fiancée / girlfriend / wife… whatever she is. This will not be tolerated and it appears his sole existence here was to purchase parts and promote Bob’s shell.. of which he is a devoted follower of. He is banned (for what.. the 6th time?) and is also a blacklisted member.
i knew he was posting here! it was only a matter of time before he was figured out!
those that have been selling to him under this user name, if they could share the alias (there’s no way he went by his real name) he was using would be a great help to the black list. im sure they would have found him out sooner and he wouldnt have gotten those items he did manage to get.
