Boot Question..

I bought a pair of used Corcoran jump boots, flat sole with a non-steel toe cap and plan to have some custom zippers made and sewn in professionally. Here’s the website and a pic of the zipper order:

Black means that the tape(fabric attached to the zipper) will be black, and I have spoken with a sales rep and he/she confirmed that the zipper teeth and slider keep their aluminum finish and are NOT painted or oxidized black.

Here’s the boots, the last photo is sort of a rough idea of where to place the zipper.

One thing I’m having trouble with is laces. The ones that came with the boot are too short. They’re 82", the standard length for Corcoran 10" boots, but I can only lace them up to the 4th eyelet from the top before I run out of lace and I have looked all over and can’t find longer ones anywhere. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thats all, if anyone has done this or had a similar idea, I’d love to hear about it.

For longer laces go to an army surplus store and get some parachute cord…

Good suggestion Exo but I found some 108" black kevlar laces for $8.99 and they work perfectly! Got my zippers today too, gonna have to find someone to sew them in, I hope it can be done without too much trouble. They look a little long in the pic, took a chance and ordered 9’ zippers and they’re almost too long but they’ll be ok. The slider handle is a little but but it’ll work too. Next time I’ll know exactly how what length and slider-type to order with these zippers and, if successful I might even be interested in doing a run of screen-accurate boots using “used” paratrooper boots. Sounds gross but they look more screen-accurate when they’re used and if you get Corcorans, they like never wear out especially if you don’t wear them everyday.

Take them to either 1) a leather shop, or 2) a shoe repair shop and see what they can do. It’s likely that the leather shop can cut and sew them in just as easily as the shoe repair shop. Good luck, man.
