Bru's belt gizmo....

Finally dragged myself down the gizmo route, nice bit of kit and fairly easy to do, as most of you already know.

After snagging one of Corsasri’s (UKGB Forums) excellent gizmo boards including shelf, I sat down and did the teadious task of threading all the wire covers on my nixies I bought a while back.

This is the worst part of the whole job, and I hated it, first I stripped some old wire out of it’s casing and then cut to length and threaded to the nixies.

72 pieces of little wire to be exact. :x

Corsasri’s board had already had the chips and resistors and so on added when I bought it, so that saved me hours of drilling…thanks Buddy!!!

So I sets about adding the Nixies while the shelf’s primer and top coat dried.

Again this is a dead fiddly job especially for meathook mitted Jimmy here, but got it done and hot glued the wires on the back so they can’t go anywhere.

Popped the freshly painted and varnished shelf into place and replaced the grommits and slipped the nixies into place. Also added the cable and glued and screwed it into place.

Time for the error box, now I did think of going with the green nixie as I liked the look of it and it would have been easier, but ended up talking myself out of it, so settled on the error box made from a 2x3 piece of lego, with some blister pack plastic to make the front.

Error box painted and glued and screwed into place, and wire added to it. Also added the lower black chip and wires.

Made the holder using my usual video case method, I find it work really well as the plastic is strong but thin so will move easy with you, without cracking or digging in. Plus it matches the rest of my holders.

Made the daughter board from various bits and bobs I had lying around, glued and screwed a tape measure clip to the back and glued and screwed the other end of the cable in place.

On the belt pic. Happy to bits with it, and had some fun and some cursing while doing it so that can’t be bad.
