Simple. Pictures will be included along with a title description that says Cardboard Proton Packs. I’ll even explain why the price is much lower than most proton packs sold on Ebay.
Well, if you want to get the “finest quality materials available” I wouldn’t buy a cardboard proton pack. However, if you cannot afford a fine quality material built proton pack, but still would like a cheaper one, you can buy one of mine.
One thing you should realize is that people here like to joke around and I think his comments were intended for humor and not mean-spirited. Sometimes these things are hard to convey with this form of communication. Anyone here that knows EU knows he likes to BS. Maybe he should have ‘tenderized’ you a bit before he made those remarks. I will be happy to smack him around a little. In fact, that would probably give me lots of pleasure.
He will provide constructive information once I have thrashed him.

I’ve spent the last few weeks making a cardboard pack just for fun and to see how accurate i can get it.
almost finished it and am REALLY happy with how its cone out. just got to build a bumper and few hoses and im done. will get photos up soon and offer any help i can.
Cardboard pack sounds like a cool venture but I would worry about parts like the ion arm, bumper, and gun attachment point not being sturdy enough to withstand normal wear (bumping into walls, etc). What are your plans for those areas? I know I’ve cracked my bumper and ion arm into a couple of walls, but luckily they’re thick solid plastic.
I have built a proton pack before when I was 14. I had aquired an alice frame… two actually… by sheer luck. My uncle is in the navy and gave my father two alice packs. My father didn’t like the frames and removed them and was about to throw them away when my uncle took 'em and then regave them to me. At the time, I had built my first proton pack out of a shoe box and my uncle just so happened to know that proton packs needed an Alice frame and handed it to me. With the alice frame, I looked online, found some GB blueprints and went to work making my first proton pack out of wood, cardboard, and styrofoam. I was an extreme novice with these items and did NOT know what happens when you spray styrofoam with spray paint. XD My father had suggested adding cardboard ONTOP of the styrofoam but I had already done enough damage to the initial pack, that I left it alone to rot.
I have no idea what became of the Alice frames or the first proton pack. I had just cleared out my father’s garage and they were gone. Possibly thrown away. Which is what prompted me to rebuild/remake with the skills and knowledge I gained from the first pack.
BUT to answer some questions.
Those pieces will all be made of cardboard - so far. Though I am unsure about the gun attachment point. I don’t have a list of names of PP parts with me… and I couldn’t tell if you’re talking about the hose meets the handle, or where the gun attaches to the proton pack. As far as I know, both will be plastic or metal. The handle will be dowel, the body of the gun will be cardboard with styrofoam inside to reinforce the shape. The upper part will probably be pipe… but still not sure. As I’d like to leave part of the Cardboard PP open as a starting place for a good proton pack.
As of now, i’m already acquired Alice Frames for these… which is bumping the cost to about 80$ to make.
I will look for alternatives for these items, however those are the harder to make/find items. I would love to use a hotweels track (as I did with my first model) but I don’t believe I can make an accurate replica of the bumper with just a track. As the middle part expands. If you have alternate suggestions, I’d be open to using them, but for now.. for cost… those are primarily cardboard.
These are from Halloween 2008. this is the first pack i ever made. a friend ended up wearing this one. i basically just took a big box and glued things i found around the house to it. this pic was taken before it was complete. for straps, i just put a back pack inside and fed the straps through holes that i cut. it looks kind of silly and boxy (of course). The power cell is just a smaller box that i stick a glow stick in
a friend ended up wearing this one, who decided he wanted to be a ghostbuster when i showed him what i was working on, and then i made another one out of a big plastic tupperware box. i figured i’d be better off in case it rained
Resurrection! Update, my cardboard project got totally derailed by a swarm of bad things, and then a swarm of good things, but there’s some scars that’ll never heal and a sense of irony to the story.
Wish I could tell it.
Can’t really go into details because it’s too personal to discuss. The long and short of it is that I got a very very expensive Proton Pack that has lights and sound. I’ve taken it apart, put it back together, modified it and measured it… and hope to use this as a model for my cardboard pack.
Not going to aim to sell these because I’m no longer in financial trouble. And probably won’t be ever again… But hey! Proton Pack!
I’m working on a better cardboard pack and if it’s not too time consuming to build, I might consider selling it.
