HI

im having a loft cleaned out and came across about 150 comics all in plastic wallets, im in the uk wheres the best place to sell these

I’m actually missing some of those and my Issue 1 is in terrible condition. Just thought I’d mention that the Christmas issue with Slimer wearing a Santa hat contains a fan Q/A letter by me that the comic ran weekly. I think I asked Peter two questions and he managed to answer both without being sarcastic unlike with most readers. Now that’s a Christmas!

Hi pf, yeah i remember the letters page were usually quite sarcastic in the RGB comic book but good fun to read, i dont think i ever wrote into the magazine though (if i did i cant remember) as a child i used to think it was actually Peter who replied in person but then again i suppose we all thought that

I dont actually have my set of RGB comics anymore sadly i sold them on last year to purchase that RGB dvd boxset from Timelife, it was the only way i could come up with the pennies! I thought that as muh as i loved my comic collection i would prefer watching my fave episodes again & again on dvd & i had waited years for a complete set of the series, so i painfully had to sell them but i cant complain i got a decent price for them & im sure they went to a good home!

Who knows maybe one day i might be able to get a complete comic collection again

Where did you sell them

Ha, ha yeah the Q&A did have a lot of sarcasm and I also believed that Peter was personally answering my letter as well! I think I was about 7. It’s a shame you got rid of those comics, I’ve written doodles over most of my comics unfortunately. But gosh that was one happy Christmas I had. I remember I was also one of the lucky few to win the competition the comic book ran in 1991 I believe. I ended winning a Slimer bumper collection paperback, the Now Comics Slimer! annual, the Ghostbusters 1991 annual and a Ghostbusters paperback collection of stories along with a certificate by Marvel! Now you have to understand I didn’t know what Marvel or Spider-Man had to do with Ghostbusters, I didn’t care at the time as I was happy to win. It’s only years later I found out that the UK comic was released by Marvel under a different name. Those were good times.

That must have been great as a child to win that competition with all those GB goodies, i loved that RGB comic as a kid, didnt buy it weekly more like monthly when my parents bought it me ( those were the days before pocket money)

I loved, them because i was still getting my GB fix when RGB wasnt on tv happy days

If i remember im sure i sold my collection of comics to one of the members here on GBfans

Definitely happy times!

I still can’t believe it was Marvel that published it.

Yeah definately Marvel as they published the comics until around 1992/93 if my mind serves me correct, think the last ones were bumper issues which were re-prints of older strips

I remember almost getting to the end (which had the reprints). Do have a cover scan of the last issue or know what issue they got up to?

Im sure it was around the 200 mark, at this minute in time off top of my head not overall sure

Wonder if they have it mentioned on Wikipedia?

think the last ever issue i got was on the cover it has the GBs overlooking Loch ness, with a GIANT statue stood behind them, dont think this was the last issue though??

Wikipedia isn’t very good when it comes to listing Real Ghostbusters in comic form. What I did find out is that the comics went up to issue 193.

193, was that the very last issue number then?

Well, it looks like the last known issue but for all we know they may have gone up to 194. What I do remember is the last issue I own is full of reprints while the cover is a reprint as well with the image of Egon in Mr Hyde mode.

Wikipedia DOES have a detailed GB comic section because I wrote the entry. I also ran (and will run again) the website that indexed all the American and UK books (minus one or two issues I couldn’t get my hands on…yet).

193 was the last issue of the regular series produced. There were quite a number of compilations of collected previous material, and a short-lived Slimer! series.

It was indeed 193. I have a full set, all between mint and near mint. I’m currently residing in Canada and looking for collectors and buyers for the complete set. Bearing in mind, the only thing missing is the free gifts in from the earlier issues, the later issues are all intact.

I have a rough value in mind, I’ve already spoken to one dealer in Canada who fed me a load of crap about copyright laws in the UK between the 60’s and 90’s were such that the Marvel stamp on these books are effectively counterfeit, and that they’re not Marvel at all!!! Anything further on that guys?

If anyone is interested, knows some who is or can point me in the direction of dealers or collectors, reply to this post.

Thanks

I recently moved house and started looking through my old collection of Real Ghostbusters comics. As you guys know by the end the comic series all the stories were reprints. Looking at my collection it seems that Marvel’s comic went further past issue 194 into compliation specials. It’s been some weeks since I looked at my comics but I believe the last Real Ghostbusters comic published by Marvel was Christmas 1993. I have Halloween, Easter and Summer specials as well. I honestly totally forgot about these. So it seems Marvel’s Ghostbusters comics went to the end of 1993, maybe into early 1994.
