So my dad and I are building a proton pack. We are using norms plans as a guide but are making modifications as we go (look for my build thread, coming soon!) So we were planning it all out and we got to the part where we were making sure there is room for electronics.
We were wondering how to wire up the Power cell, what route do people use to get power to the lights up there.
I tried to find it with search but did not find anything. Thanks
Are you making everything solid? Or hollow?
we are making the ion arm and possible the gearbox solid but the cyclotron/spacer and power cell are hollow. We are just starting so its not to late to make something hollow if need be. how do most people wire there packs?
Typically the whole thing is hollow, so wires can easily be run from the power cell, to cyclotron.. or anywhere else on the pack.
If you don’t have an easy path, you can always drill holes in the motherboard and run the wires behind the backpack.
For ease of replacing / charging, you can also mount the batteries on the motherboard / backpack frame.
I like the idea of mounting the batteries on the outside of the pack. It would be a pain having to tear open the pack every time the batteries go dead! thanks for the idea!
If you wanted to more on the ‘building’ side rather than ‘finding and crafting’ then I would recommend using Sean’s plans.
They will give you better results than Norm’s and you will have loads of space inside the hollow parts to run your wires.
Norm’s plans are good for tips and tricks on how to do tricky parts, but you will end up with a better pack if you follow the V71’s sound advice

I have decided to save up for a shell. I just don’t have the time or skill to craft one from scratch
