Designing uniforms for June party

Sorry, hit “submit” when I meant to just preview it so the post got posted before I finished. Hense why it was edited so early on. Sorry!

Now, I know we won’t be able to get too crazy on the details portions of our uniforms, but I’m really hoping to get our outfits as completed looking as possible by the time of our party at the end of June. I’d love to put together a belt gizmo for each of us, but that will most likely depend on time. We both work full time and it’s hard to put in a lot of extra time on our hobbies. Plus we’re making a lot of stuff for the party so, we might not get to go as crazy on our outfits as we (I, mainly) hope.

Here’s what I sketched out for my look. We’re not going to stress about the proton packs for the party. One, because it could be cumbersome, especially being the hosts of the party, I’ll be running about a lot and don’t want to run into anyone and possibly hurt them. Another is that my hubs has an idea for something different, so..yea. No proton packs this round, but it will be a hope for the future.

Now, my biggest project right now is making things fit on me. >.<;; I’m 4’11.5" and super curvy. Tiny, yet filled out all at once. Makes things a little hard to find a proper fit on. My waist is short and so are my legs. Luckily! WeLoveFine’s romper was a very pleasant and comfortable fit. Which is a blessing considering that trying to alter a flight suit would have been a huge pain in the patootie. Do-able, but still a pain, so yay for romper working out. I’d like to move that logo to the arm, but considering how pricey the romper was, I’m a little nervous attempting to remove it as it’s glued on rather well. @_@

Anyways, moving onto the details. Don’t my matty ecto goggles look amazing? And they fit quite well with the pigtail look, don’t you think?

Except for this tiny little issue when I let go of them. The strap is HUGE on my head. And I was rather disappointed to see how the straps, although adjustable in theory, have been sewn where they can’t be adjusted. Annoying, but all I have to do is adjust the straps to where they will fit me properly, run them through my sewing machine and we’re a go on that!

I’m waiting on these shoes to ship, but I found them on ebay. They’re tall enough that they’ll come to my knees and allow my romper pants to ■■■■ at the bottom. A little higher than is canon, but I like it. Plus I’m digging the heel, even though it’s smaller than I prefer. (I usually run around cons as Elvira with 6 inch heels, so low heels are often strange for me, but I couldn’t find shoes with a higher heel while still bustin’ appropriate)

For my outfit, the main work will go into the belt. I’ll need a holster for the PKE meter and a hook/holster for the goggles (if they get too uncomfy during party) to hang them from. Not stressing too much about the leg hose as you all have some wonderful ideas for attachment and execution, as well as GBFans’ shop has some amazing resources I want to use, so I’m excited to take advantage of all that is here being offered.

Oh yeah. Lastly, I’m going to put a patch over my current “Stanz” name tag with my own last name, or my handle, haven’t decided yet, but I love the idea of customizing the suit to represent yourself as your own buster. I think I might have to get a child-size name tag to flatter the romper.

My husband’s (Erick) uniform hasn’t been fully fleshed out. He wants to design what I’ve been calling a Proton Punch. Where in place of a nutrona/neutrino wand, he has special proton-charged gloves where he can essentially “punch” the ghosts. He’s a bit of a workout fanatic so he wanted his buster to have something that used his physical force. We’re still figuring out exactly how it should look, but will be really fun to design and bring together for the party.

We did work out that he wants his uniform half-on so he can really show off his buff arms. (he complained a lot that I wasn’t making him buff enough in the sketch :confused: ) I figured that the pistol belt would hold it up best. In the original sketch I did of him, he had ecto goggles too, but he hasn’t decided if he wants them or not. Everything else is pretty much a meh for him too. We are getting a second matty wand just so we can play with crossing the streams, but I don’t know if he’ll have or want a PKE meter either. I think he’s pretty convinced that he’ll just fight off all the ghosts with his bare muscles. =.=;;

As for his uniform overall,we’re probably going with the flightsuits being sold here in the shop since the prices are really good and the convenience of it all being here is great.

Hope I have fun interesting developments to share on our looks over the next six months!

That’s interesting about the “Proton Punch” idea - I was designing something similar for my old team back in Long Island. It was essentially a pair of black project boxes over the top of the hand, with metal u-shaped rods which sprung out over the left and right of the knuckle area. Proton streams would arc and course between these two rods. There’d be a third box with controls on the forearm area. Think of a Power Glove, with two boxes on the upper hand instead of one, and you’re in the right area. Of course, there’d be cables/loom going back to the pack, which would either be a small “■■■■■ pack” or a full-sized pack. Who knows!

If you’re interested, I could sketch it out. I was super close to just building a prototype of it back in the day. It’s not my style, personally, but one of the other members suggested it.

I’ve been gone quite a while. Had a lot of financial issue occur during the early half of this year and still adjusting from it. We ended up changing the theme of my party from this past June due to the financial crisis in our lives and made a huge move and all other sorts of fun stuff. Happy to say, I still have some progress to share with you!

One is that our party has been moved to be a premiere party for this coming July to celebrate the release of the new film. It will give me a lot of time to really get plans, ideas and our outfits created and solidified.

Second, I got/found my boots! Target had an unexpected sale this week where all of their boots were 40% off. So I paid $20 for a $40 pair of shoes. It was fantastic. As you can see in the photo, they make my romper ■■■■ quite well.

Do you guys have any suggestions about where to share on party plans? I think some of you might be interested in what I have been working on.

Oh, if you’re still offering, would love an idea and a sketch would be helpful in getting those creative juices flowing! Thank you for your ideas!

If I might interject, there have been three builds of a “proton puncher” type device documented on these boards.

Hope that helps get the creative juices flowing! Personally, I love the idea of that piece of equipment and am glad it’s caught on at least for a few fans.

Oh awesome! Thanks so much for sharing! This is most excellent. Definitely good inspiration. Those are all amazing. They will be great for brainstorming. There is such a creative group here, it really makes this group worth-while.
