Ecto-1 Vehicle Systems Siren and Jukebox App

Hey all!

It’s been quite some time since I’ve posted here, though I do creep from time to time. This year I’ve decided to get my Ecto built (2008 Jeep Liberty) and realized that I needed a solution for the siren and, while I was at it, some music. Because I can never do something in a simple way I wrote a whole freaking app!

This guy can play the siren and music simultaneously. The siren plays the wind up, loops the middle indefinitely, and only triggers the wind-down when you turn the siren off. The audio visualizer appears when the siren is on. You can choose any of the tracks I have listed in the app and they will play one after another and loop the whole list. Play/pause, prev, and next all work. There are no “settings” yet, even though there is a button for it (plans…).

Here’s the issue though: This is all copyrighted music, so there’s no way it’s going on any app stores, even if I could afford what Google or Apple would want for their fee. I could offer the APK (if the mods would allow that sort of thing) for people to side-load on Android phones, but that might exclude people who aren’t familiar with doing that sort of thing. Not to mention that Google is cracking down on installing apps this way.

Another option for be for me to rip out the jukebox portion and just release the siren function, but again it would have to be side-loaded onto your phones.

Lastly, this could also be hosted on my server. You’d go to the link and there it is, in your browser, ready to be used. If there’s interest in this approach I can set that up.

Let me know what you guys think and if anyone is interested in using this!

ChatGPT did design the graphics (background and button images), but I wrote all of the logic by hand

I’d be very interested in a browser-based version of this solely for the siren wind up and wind down. Good work!

Lose the slop. I know you’re probably thinking that you need some artwork there but really it detracts from what you’re trying to do and ultimately makes it look low effort (when clearly it is not).

Personally I just use a standard soundboard app that I loaded in the relevant sounds too.

Id be interested in a dedicated app but you’d have to strip out all the copyrighted audio to the point where it would be too neutered to be of any use.

@mercifull I totally get that position and, if I were trying to market this thing or something like that, I’d never go with AI generated art. This is just a thing I threw together that I thought might help other people as much as it will myself.

@donkey8012 Thanks! I have it hosted currently (with music for the moment, mainly to test how well it would even work) at

It’s going to look weird opening that link on a PC browser, but a phone browser should work fine. I might even throw in a Fullscreen button to toggle that on as well. Please let me know if you have any weird bugs. The only one I haven’t been able to chase down yet is that sometimes the wind-up doesn’t play and it skips right to the loop. It’s only every once in a while. Let me know if you ever get the same behavior
