ECTO Goggles V 2.0 UPDATE 2/23

Starting on a new set of ECTO Goggles. These are made with REAL PVS-5a frames, and some resin parts from Thiago.

Just got them home, so havent had time to clean them up or anything yet. I will get that started tomarrow.

EDIT:

So I made a faceplate for my goggles.

Looking good,

Where did you find the frames, how much did they cost if you dont mind me asking

They’re from Thiago.

Like Kingpin said, they are from Thiago / GBFreek88

You’ll have to get in touch with him on proptopia, seeing as AJ will not let him sell here anymore.

:sigh:

today was the 1st day in like, 2 weeks, that we haven’t got any rain. So what do I do?

I PAINT!

Still need to make the head strap, get some thumbscrews, and weather it a bit.

I’m jealous of anyone with goggles. Cause I don’t have any.

Zander that looks great. Did the face padding come with the frames? I got my frame from Thiago too, but mine didn’t come with the padding and had to settle with weather stripping.

Love that “Italian Olive” paint. I’ve never seen that color in the stores before.

The padding came from Thiago. It was a test one that he was gonna throw away. But I saved it from that fate. XD

Seeing as the wife is out getting stuff for my B-Day party…and the fact I have yet to make the head strap…

I put my goggles on beetlejuice to show how they look when being worn.

I may end up slimming out the padding

Looking good Z, the padding does look a little thick, but maybe that would make them more comfortable?

Beetlejuice looks particularily bad-ass wearing them, too. :angryvigo:

Looking good, man. I just got the same lenses today and I’m really digging them. Better looking than PVC fittings by miles, not to mention I couldn’t even find any thin walled PVC around here, so I’m really stoked about these.

One suggestion I would make, though:

You’ve laid the face plate directly on top, but I’m fairly certain it’s meant to go on the inside and butt up against/behind the little lips on the top and bottom edges of the front hole. It makes your lenses look just a tad long, so maybe you could pop the plate off and re-fix it into the back? It’s not really a big deal and they’ll look great either way. Just thought I’d point it out.

Also, I’m digging the look of that Krylon aluminum. I don’t think I saw that around anywhere last year when I was making my pack, and I went through three or four different kinds of metallic spray paint and wasn’t terribly happy with any of them. I’ll have to keep an eye out for that stuff.

They are inset into the frames. They are as far in as the electronic stuff inside will let them go in.

Ah, right. It hadn’t occurred to me that that stuff would be in the way. Like I said, they look great anyway so it really doesn’t matter.

take a look there. You can see some of it, and there is more on the other side as well.

XD

Thanx for your kind words my friend.

Well… The thumb screws are made form the little wooden dowels that you get with boxed shelves and stuff you can get from places like Wal-Mart. nick-a-tron had a few extra, so he sent them my way. THANX AGAIN MAN!

The labels are printed out, glued down, and then coated with Mod Podge.

The side label is made by Kingpin…i don;t remember where I got the other one from. It has been saved on my PC for a while.

made the straps a few minutes ago.

looks great!

No problem! Glad I could help  Goggles look great :crunch:

They look great! Only downside to goggles are damage when you hang them off your belt in crowded situations, and what we call “goggle hair”

I never hang them off my belt. As for goggle hair…yeah..i know all about that
