Hello everyone. I’m new to gbprops.com and I just wanted to say hi and let everyone know that I’m just a few months away from begining the holy grail of Ghostbuster Props… The Ecto-1! I couldn’t find a 59’ cadillac hearse so instead I’m going with a 67’ Chevy Impala station wagon I found at a junk yard.
I’ll try to post pictures on this forum and the prop forum as soon as I get a scanner, but there’s no rush. The car is far from done. But if anyone would like to share any helpful info on Ecto building then please don’t be shy. I’ll be happy to hear you out. Thanks.
hey buddy welcome to GBprops ive only been here a few weeks and its a great place to find all u need for ur ectomobile, i dont have the experince in building a full size ecto replica but i have done concepts and models my advice is to have fun doing it and make it your own put ur own influence into it ull be suprised what the outcome will be!! good luck with it!!! im lucking forward to seening the pics of it!
Creativity and originality in your own design are incredibly important, but the real key is to emulate the source material strongly so that your replica ‘strikes the right chords of the people’s nostalgia.’
You really can do whatever you want, but as I’ve found with my replica, you’ll get astonishingly positive feedback and attention if you make your version instantly recognizable.
Thanks guys! It will take a while to finish the project, but I’ll try to update as much as possable. Thanks again!
