Ecto-X (modifications

Okay guys I’m looking for some opinions here. I have a friend who will prety much make me any vinyl decal i want. This is what i was going for let me know what you think

This is my car as it is today

Now I want to add these things, (pardon the logo not being on the door, their older pictures, i have yet to take new ones with the logo like this)

This is a definite, i want the gas cover to be the yellow and black crossed and for the drivers side to say that, on the opposite side I was thinking of having it say “WARNING: Particle Accelerators on Board” in red lettering. By the way does anyone have any ideas of a good font to use for these.

Now I definitely want it to say Ecto-X in the top right corner, this also needs a good idea for a font. Now I want the GB logo on the back, i contemlated cutting it out in tint and using that for the back window, or doing what I added to the picture and making one for the bumper. My third ideas was for it to say “GHOSTBUSTERS” across the bumper with the O being the logo.

I appreciate you guys taking the time to read this and would love any feedback.

Also does anyone know the legality of flashing amber lights on cars? I know blue and red are illegal for street use.

I think it looks good, I too am opting for a “different” ecto mod (see the Spectre-1 thread) anyway the legality of the lights varies from state to states, most states allow anyone to uses amber and clear as long as they are either used in a time of distress, or for your purposes, mounted but only used in parades and car-shows and tested when not on a public roadway.

the general breakdown for most states is like this…

Clear = Civillian, City, County, or State use

Amber = Civillian, City, County, or State use

Red = Emergency, Ambulance, Police, EMA

Blue = Police, Military, State, Federal

Purple = Funeral

Green = Communications, Military, EMA

Some states have special clauses that allow the use of other color lights IF duplicating a film car. This wouldn’t apply to you because of the year/make/model differences. Some states also allow the addition af any color light if the car is a legal antique and the lights are period correct for the car. (so for instance if you were restoring an old police car, ambulance, fire truck, or hearse)

The best bet is to check it out with your local DMV, some states require the lights be registered if permanantly mounted no matter what color they are, others do not unless they are purple, green, red, or blue.

Hope that helps

I would recommend using ‘strong’ and ‘clear’ fonts for the lettering… nothing that’s so fancy that you can’t read it from a distance, because in the ‘role play’ angle you’d want car advertising or warnings to be able to be read from a distance.

‘Ariel’ is a standard… although maybe a little uninteresting.

Check free font sites for things you like, maybe put together some samples of the text with the downloaded fonts to post here to demonstrate what you’re after.

In Illinois, you will only be able to run amber lights, and even that you have to be in distress, slow moving, or hauling a load. If it was a show car, you could mount blue or red, but they could not be turned on while driving, and have to be covered while on the road.

We have a guy here that has an old police cruiser styled after the Mayberry Sheriff’s Dept cars from the Andy Griffith Show. We have a cruise night every last saturday of the month, and on one occasion he ran his light while driving… 10 miles an hour

UNDER the speed limit with a police officer in front and behind him with their lights on as well.

Thanks I’ve been trying to find out what the legality was, a think 5 cops in the family would help, lol. As long as I can have them and run em on occasion it’ll be nice, is there any restrictions on where they can be mounted or anything like that, that u know of?

Amber can be mounted pretty much anywhere. IE: Dash, roof, grille, deck. If you are running down a city street with them on and you’re not towing or hauling a load, you may still get stopped. Even Amber has it’s purpose, but anybody can use them. They are basicly “cool hazard lights”.
