Ecto1A.........

Let’s say, that someone won the lottery, and it was a ghostbuster fan, and they decided they wanted to buy the Ecto1A from Sony. Does anyone think that Sony would take the offer if it was say, 1 million or less?

sooo… did you win the lottery and want to buy the ecto 1a?

I don’t know if they’d sell it.

It would probably fetch $250,000 tops.

Does Sony even still own it? I know a lot of the cars used in movies are sold off, such as the Batmobile, there are several of them from each movie floating around the car show scene because someone bought them after the movies, I’d imagine that the same was done for the ECTO1, and it’s on display somewhere.

IF they would sell it, there is no way it would be for more than a million dollars… I think AJ had it the closest, $250,000. But that’s IF they would sell it… If you buy it, can I go for a ride?

Yes Sony still owns both cars, and they tryied to display Ecto-1a. Well lets say it didnt work out to well and got damage. Go to this link and see for yourself

I personally dont want a fan to own the Ectos I want Dan to own them. His tryed to buy the cars many times and they said no. Hell i know somebody who offer Sony 32,000 for Ecto-1 and they still said no.

What was the damage?

The ecto-1 and 1a are both owned by sony, and they’re both in pretty abysmal shape, although the Ecto-1 was touched up recently (it was a pretty shoddy job, as I understand). Before it’s dust-off/repaint, it was an absolute wreck. The Ecto-1A wasn’t much better; and thanks to some idiotic guests @ universal, it got some damage there, although I don’t know the extent - it was already in bad shape, though. Both cars. It’s a shame, but that’s what happens to movie props.

You guys should go to disney/MGM studios and ride the backlot tour. They have an original snowspeeder from Empire Strikes Back and one of the sandskiffs from Jedi withering away back there, literally going to pieces. The ship from Flight of the Navigator is there as well, and it might as well not even exist anymore; it’s almost black with mold and coming apart at the seams.

If I ever own a movie studio I’m going to make a prop museum and charge admission.

You should also serve food and make it a theme restaurant. Will be highly sucessful.. I think Arnold will help fund it.

nope, haven’t won the lottery yet. But even if I did, i would have enough to put in a brand new engine, and modify it, so it would actually run alot better then it did when they first got the car. Brand new paint job, the whole nine yards

Well, other than the bragging rights, there really wouldn’t be much difference between what you want to do and hunting down the type of car that was used and fixing it up to make one of your own, it’s been done before. Though the bragging rights would be prety sweet.

i am almost 100% sure that sony would not sell the e1a to any body

if the money is right, they might sell it. but i dunno, sony seems to be cool one moment and complete asswipes the next

I agree that the only person that should buy the cars is Dan , he has tried to so many times but sony just has to be jerks about it. If they wont green light a 3rd movie , atleast give him the cars . I for one would be glad to know he had them so they would be taken care of the way they deserve
