Since finding a 59 caddy (or really any caddy for that matter) in the UK is near enough impossible. I was wondering if anybody would like to share ideas for possible cars that would still have the same look and be recognizable as and ectomoobile.

another mercedes thats older and can be picked up pretty cheaply

Estates (Station Wagons) aren’t as popular in America as they are in the UK and Europe.

Although I’m not a big fan of custom wagons, or vans for that matter, I do like how they shaved the door handles on that Magnum.
Hi, I’m from the UK, I’m a born again Ghostbusters fan since watching the films again recently! Becoming quite a worrying obsession!!
Anyway, I’ve often thought that with a little modification, the Volvo V70 estates that the police use would serve as good ectomobiles! There are pleanty of companies who sell decommissioned emergency vehicles out there too!
These are examples of what I mean:
They even have lights already attached!
I think these two are slightly different.
What do you think?

Hello so as we all know the precious 59 “milli” is almost impossible to come upon! However I see many other fellow gb’s make their own from other cars-
Other Cadillac’s, some other types of station wagons and such.
Does anyone have any specific recommendation for what is the best alternative car to use?

My favorite is the Dodge Magnum.
I’m seriously considering trading in my Cobra for a Mini Cooper within the next six months, not to make a better Ecto, but because gas prices are killing me! Anyway, back on point. If you’re going busting solo, I think a Mini would make a really neat Ecto.
I agree that the Dodge Magnum would make for a very good, modernized Ectomobile. I was thinking a PT Cruiser and the PT look-a-like that Chevy makes as good alternatives as well.

I am really partial to one of these:
A Ford Freestyle.
It’s wagon-shaped, but isn’t as short and small as a Magnum or (gasp) Outback. Say what you want about it practically being a minivan or that it’s a Ford, I just can’t stop thinking about how much junk you could fit up on top of it… drool
My top list for alternatives to caddies is as follows:
-2005-or later model Outback: Because I like it.
The volvo ectos I have seen had a really gross-looking, flat rear. Blegh.
However, anyone ever heard of the new volvo all-terrain? WOOF!
They would probably use SUV’s now a days.. so the Ford Freestyle.. or my preferred.. the Excursion/Excursion.. would be probably the future type of vehicle for them. (or a Suburban..).
I would really like to see like a SWAT vehicle or something too.
