Egon Style Glasses

Where can I get glasses like Egon wore in both movies? Looked through the forms could not find my answer. Thanks for the help.

Not sure where to get any, but here’s a good thread to start trying to figure out what they were…

Now if only we knew his prescription, then we could *see *like Egon too!

I can tell you exactly what kind of glasses those are, they are Saville Row 14k Gold Beaufort Panto with black frame covers.

They are also the same style of glasses Harrison Ford wore when he teaching in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Saville Row glasses have been used in a lot of movies for some reason probably because they are a classic frame.

I have a pair with the chestnut covers like Indiana Jones glasses but you can get them in a variety of colors. They are quite expensive as they are hand made in England out of 14k gold, but they also last longer than cheaper glasses. They usually run about $300+ depending on where you get them.

Hope that helps,

Thanks, Bish!

That info’s going into my saved searches, to replace a ‘best-guess’ style that I’ve been watching.

On a related note, I went looking for a photo of myself from Star Wars Celebration 2 in Indianapolis the other day, and wish I knew whatever happened to that pair of my own prescription glasses from 2002.

They weren’t the kind you described, but apparently I had subconsciously selected something similar: round, with looped earpieces and the high hinges.

Glad I could help! It’s funny because in the Indiana Jones fan community it’s pretty well known, so it surprised me that no one had figured out Egon’s hehe.

There are cheaper alternatives out there, the style/shape of the glasses is called “panto” and you would have to find rim covers, but because the frame shape is not as popular as it was during and after WWII and then again in the 80’s, not many manufacturers make that style anymore unfortunately.

You can see mine here: http://www.gbfans.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=38592

My rim covers broke and I have not replaced them yet but you can see te shape.
