I went to an estate sale recently for someone who’s career involved testing drinking water supply. and for $20 I found a Beckman model G pH tester.
it was 98% complete and the case and instrument face were in very presentable shape!

Goals:
To make an interactive prop to re-create the opening scene.
Use the controls if possible
Haptic feedback style “shock” via a vibration motor
Maintain a clinical/scientific look to the function
After gutting the unit we decided to add a Usb-c port in the front for charging the battery.
A soundboard with the sound effect loaded which is activated by a button.
the button was installed to make the activation switch functional.
Later an on/off function was added to the pH test knob.
TENS unit wrist bands were used for the concealment of the vibration motor with custom printed electrode caps.
the unit now tests the effect of negative reinforcement on ESP ability.
