Expanding your Retro Action RGB line

I just recently created a thread about expanding your RARGB line via premade mego figures. As I advised some one about the current mego resources I realized I should offer up a more complete guide to expanding the line.

For all you fans of the Retro Action Real Ghostbusters figure line I have compiled some resources for you to use to expand your set of figures. These obviously aren’t items made for the Retro line but they are mego style so they should work right with the line. The first one is http://www.classictvtoys.com I’m going to break down the site for you because it can be overwhelming.

First here are some figures that are ready to be used as ghosts:

Mad Clown Series: http://www.classictvtoys.com/madclowns8inchactionfiguresseries1.aspx

Skeletons: http://www.classictvtoys.com/8inchskeletonfigures.aspx

Mad Monster Series 1: http://www.classictvtoys.com/madmonsters8inchactionfiguresseries1.aspx

Mad Monster Series 2: http://www.classictvtoys.com/madmonsters8inchactionfiguresseries2.aspx

There are also knights, pirates, cowboys, Robin Hood characters, and Native American figures that simply require a paint job to give them a ghoulish appearance. There are other lines of figures that can be used as bystanders in the line. I’m sure not many people are looking for that type of figure but they are nice to have to fill out a diorama.

The site also features some great accessories:

Video Camera http://www.classictvtoys.com/tvvideocameraforfigures.aspx

Time Keeper Bell (use the striker as a different prop and modify it as the HQ alarm) http://www.classictvtoys.com/tvvideocameraforfigures-6.aspx

Table (with breaking action): http://www.classictvtoys.com/foldingtableforfigures.aspx

Space Back Pack (you can easily turn this into one of Egon’s invention) http://www.classictvtoys.com/spacebackpack.aspx

These are just a highlight of items they have. They also have guns, swords, knives, trashcans, guardrails and even guitars!

For other costumes they have a wide range of options from hats, shoes, and suits to gloves, pants and t-shirts. Though I think many will find the lab coat http://www.classictvtoys.com/whitelabcoatfor8inchfigures.aspx to be a prime choice for their Ghostbuster figures.

However if you are one of those people saying that’s nice but I want actual RGB Characters and accurate outfits. Well I have a link for you too. http://www.megomadhouse.com/howto.html Not only does it feature some nice patterns (which you can either us as is or modify for your use) but it also has a great power point introducing novices to the world of mego head sculpting. This link takes you from head sculpting to molding to casting to painting your final product. Now you can have that 8” Grundel you always wanted!

I hope you find this information worth looking at and worthwhile!

There has been a great deal added to http://www.classictvtoys.com since I created this page that I thought I would bring to your attention. Sadly none of it is directly Ghostbusters but still worth looking over to add accessories or to add to a diorama.

Bag of skeletons http://www.classictvtoys.com/bagofskeletonbones.aspx These would be great to fill out the ground for a Ghostbusters scene. Imagine these parts rising up from the ground in a cemetery diorama.

Wheelchair http://www.classictvtoys.com/wheelchairfor8inchfigures.aspx Not really a Ghostbusters item but a very interesting piece. Especially if some one plans on making a EGB Garrett. It’s hard to find a decent looking wheel chair for any scale line.

Possible Walter Peck head http://www.classictvtoys.com/ivanhoefullypaintedhead.aspx Not perfect but with a little hair change it would work pretty well.

Other items of interest include http://www.classictvtoys.com/breakawaybench.aspx http://www.classictvtoys.com/computerlaptopforfigures.aspx http://www.classictvtoys.com/redspacecommunicatorssetof3.aspx

Remember to look around the site yourself. There’s some great stuff.

Hello again! With the release of the Janine figure I thought I would talk about some possible outfit changes for the figure. But first I’d like to share some new items from the site. They aren’t much, really just sharing to give the general page to you to check out when it grows.

First up is the miscellaneous items page: http://www.classictvtoys.com/miscitemsfor8inchfigures.aspx Right now it doesn’t have much but I figure like most sections on this site it will have a boom of items added. It’s a new page so it’s just getting started. The microphones featured on the page could be customized for various RGB purposes of your own design.

The second page is this: http://www.classictvtoys.com/coffinsfor8inchfigures.aspx It’s pretty self explanatory.

Now on to Janine!

This site doesn’t really feature anything in the traditional Janine style but there are some acceptable options.

First off here is the main clothing page for women: http://www.classictvtoys.com/customclothingfor8inchwomenfigures.aspxand here is the one for shoes: http://www.classictvtoys.com/shoesfor8inchfemalefigures-2.aspxand finally necklaces: http://www.classictvtoys.com/necklacesfor8inchfigures.aspx

Here are two shirt options that might work: http://www.classictvtoys.com/bluewomensssleevelessshirtfor8inchfigures.aspx http://www.classictvtoys.com/womensorangewithpolkadotsshirtfor8inchfigures.aspx If you customize them they could work out just fine. Especially the blue one. Of course there are a few options for those of you aiming for a sexy Janine Here is one: http://www.classictvtoys.com/pinkdressfor8inchwomenfigures.aspx

As far as shorts/skirts go these look perfect: http://www.classictvtoys.com/womensyellowshortsfor8inchfigures.aspx And you want her to have shoes? No problem! These are just for you http://www.classictvtoys.com/pairofwomenspinkshoes-1.aspx Easily customizable with some paint.

And for that final touch how about a necklace? http://www.classictvtoys.com/redbeadnecklace.aspx

I looked at that site the first time you posted the links, and came just this close to buying not just some the of the same clothing choices, but as this was before the 2-pack with Samhain was even announced, I even considered buying a whole body and head. This one, I think: http://www.classictvtoys.com/femalewithredrootedhairfullypaintedhead.aspx

Of course, now that there’s an official figure, I only need the clothes. May still do that.

I wish RARGB Ray came with goggles

Check this pic I did with mine:

You could easily make some yourself if you have some balsa wood and bondo. these would make for a great base to attach the goggles to http://www.classictvtoys.com/blackmaskforfigures.aspx

Ahh, thanks for that! I’ll definitely look into those in the next month

and how about these for the lenses? http://www.classictvtoys.com/packof5kneepins.aspx Paint these parts to a proper color, cover your figures head in saran wrap. Put the black mask on the figure and glue the pins in place. (You have the mask on the figure to make sure the lenses point in the correct direction) Not the most beautiful looking goggles but certainly something for a tight budget. The male ends could have the base cut off so they could be inserted in the female section for an extended lens look.

Actually they look fairly close to the goggls and on an 8" figure, the suspensionof disbelief is greater than say on a 12ver

Hello again!

Nothing new to report on in new products just some math to think about for those thinking of expanding your line. If you buy all 6 available figures you will spend about 137.95. If you take another 137.95 to classictvtoys.com you can buy a large number of loose figures. Here’s the break down: 4 Pirates 18.00, 4 Robin Hood characters 18.00, 6 Western characters 25.00, 4 Clowns 19.00, 5 knights 25.00 and 5 skeletons 20.00 with enough money to buy Janine shoes, a skirt and a shirt. That means for the same amount you spend on 6 figures you could get 28 more ghosts!

This math does not take into account the shipping or the paints used to customize but you get the idea. You can of course arrange what you spend money on and change out figures for accessories but this is just a little exercise to show in comparison to the RGB figures themselves it’s not that expensive expanded your line for a large display.

By any chance do you have anything to do with this site?

Nope. I have tried to expand to more than just 1 mego site but most mego sites get their stuff from classictvtoys.com so they are all high priced or the website fails in very little time. When I got into megos there were atleast 5 pretty good websites going after taking a break from it and coming back within the space of a year the 5 websites had gone under.

Does this carry any military style boots with laces for Megos? I have thinking about changing the boots on my Retro Action Peter Venkman for a while to better match the cartoon.

Here you go:http://www.classictvtoys.com/pairofblackboots-1-1.aspx for a cheaper option you may want to try http://www.classictvtoys.com/pairofblackboots.aspx but I would recommend going with the first ones as far as what the site shows.

**CAUTION **

I’m starting to get in reports from other Mego-ers that classictvtoys.com may be sending out less than decent products. I’m not 100% sure if this is all products or just certain lines but order with caution. Apparently the quality can flux from good to low and seems right now it’s at a low. Right now you order at your own risk. I’m sad to hear the news and I have a feeling the site may close soon. This may be there attempt to stretch a buck to stay a float.

I have to admit i do like the look of these MEGO GB’s but still not sure about buying them

I do wish MATTEL would make some retool adjustments and bring out a 6"RGB line having them look exactually like the cartoon

They are great to have. Right now I have ray, winston, janine and sam hain. (I’m hoping for the last 2 for x-mas) I’m defintely buying any other figures they may release.

They do look awesome!!!

I love anything RGB related

me too! These are so nice to have. Have you been able to find them locally? or are these something you would have to get online?
