So, Im gonna be quite new to buidling Ghostbusters props, and I’m really stoked about it, but I have no clue with who’s plans to go with.
Is there a general consensus on who’s plans are the best, easiest, cheapest?
I’m looking at building one as close to the orginal as possible in size and everything. I’d like to have all the functioning LEDs and opening doors.
Could anyone point me in the right direction, give me some insight into the correct plan to go for with what I’m wanting, etc.?
IMHO the best plans are the ones that when you study them ( A LOT!) you find yourself sorting out the details for yourself and what you are capable of. For myself that has been combos of all the info and plans i can find both here and elsewhere. I save them all and review and scheme and plot and review again. At some point it will just kinda click! yeah, i’ve kinda been looking around at alot of the plans on here, and there’s alot! im sure it definitely will take some of my own personal judgement from researching and doing a compare and contrast, but just wanted to know what the other ghostheads thought. these are the guys that are already doing it or have done it, and all the props rule!
Sean’s plans are the most accurate for a prop replica. JT001’s new plans are fairly easy to follow, but some of the templates are off.. make sure you double check measurements vs the actual template size!!!
That said, the trap is in some ways more complexe to builg then a proton pack, because its small, and has a lot of unusual angles in it. Plus its basically a box in a box, so yer building two boxes in essence.
Some of the threads have tips here for lighting them, and anothe rfor makeing the trp into a functional portable storage solution, and like me, you might want to build those features into your own trap.
Take your time, and save templates, plans, and pics locally, and keep referring back to them.
yeah I HAD the plans and still managed to put the left side parts on the rright side and vice versa LOL
LOL.. I test fit about 500 times when I’m building something. And we found that while jt001’s templates are a great start, the measurements are are right, but some of the printouts are actually wrong. Nasty little surprise!
