I know there’s a lot of people with packs out there, and a lot that are nicer than mine, but hey, this one IS mine ![]()
Anywho, I bought a pack off ebay earlier this year hoping to poach the people who bought them just for halloween. My goal was to find one that wasn’t complete that I could put the elbow grease and budget into bringing up to snuff. I got in a little over my head and I have some more work to do in the future, but this pack is already leaps and bounds ahead of when I got it.

This is a pic of after I got my pack, plus one addition - the GB2 style ribbon cable and the clamps on the cyclotron. Looking better, but a ways to go. It was about this time I started reaching out to the GBFans community and about the time I realized the mess I’d gotten myself into. Turns out this pack is made by some guy who assembly lines them, and while they look pretty from a distance, up close there are a lot of issues, especially where the shell meets the motherboard. That work is being tackled another day, as I’d like to wear this on Halloween. Anywho, onto the more pics!

This is after installing the new and correct tubing and fittings, courtesty of the GBFans shop. The tubes on the side were not capped, so the hoses are just kind of loose there, and I ran out of 1/4" split loom. It’s at this point I’ll mention the headache that is the lighting of this piece of work. The guy who built the original pack had put LEDs right onto the blue lens and then poured resin in over the WHOLE THING. The lights in the pack did not scroll, rotate, or anything other than turn on. I literally had to drill out through 2-3" of fiberglass to get that whole mess out of there, and of course ruined the blue lens in the process (but who’s to say he didnt ruin it by pouring the resin in?). So then it was a matter of working that out, getting a new lens in there, ordering a new light kit and getting that to mount in there. You also may notice that the Ion Arm did not have the brass rod, so add that to the parts list. And this brings us to today:

So, the total “upgrades” that I have completed so far are as follows:
Added GB2 style ribbon cable and clamps (previously no cable at all)
Replaced wire with correct tubing, added fittings (previously only a couple fake resin fittings)
Added brass rods to complete Ion Arm
Replaced all LEDs with a new light kit
Replaced loom going from pack to wand with 3/4" splitless instead of split loom
There are still many things to be done, and to be honest my current train of thought is to sell what I’ve got and start from scratch and just build a new one. I know the Neutrona Wand isn’t great, and isn’t lit, and is missing some stuff - I’ve come to terms with that and the fact it is NOT worth upgrading, so if I keep this pack, I will outright replace the wand. Anywho, I just wanted to share since I’m so happy with the turnaround this pack has made. I love this community!!!
