i have recently aquired an 81 superior hearse and am just awaiting delivery. its not the 59 but it should make a nice ectomobile. here are a few pics of it as it is, and i am currently thinking about transplanting a 59 caddie sedan front end aswell as the rear quarters and bumper. not sure yet tho but here are the pics:

Nah come on don’t try to convert the front and back it wouldn’t work so well with a round front and back and square body, kinda look weird.
fair enough i have been thinking about that aswell but i love the style of the 59 bumpers. but ya you are right not a good idea. plus does anyone have sufgestions on removing the vinyl from the roof? and cutting in rear windows
The vinyl should just come off and then sand the crap off. Plus with the windows just use a sawzall to cut them out. I know that the home depot or lowes sold this light weight glass like stuff but I can’t remember what it’s called that you can get and sut into the shape you need, plus ad a little heat and it can be bent and shaped to fit the cars contours.

its called Plexiglas… not exactly easy to shape either.
just take it to a good body shop break down pay the coin to have the windows cut and mounted they will do it right…
and I agree don’t try the 59 caddy route would look like a modern hearse that someone cob jobbed into something else.
gotta agree with what’s been said. Leave the body shape stock and for the windows, definitely have a professional take care of it unless you’re VERY confident in your skills.

However, to pay homage to the 59 red fins, what bout a red stripe going down the side of the car, just below the windows and back to the brake lights?
i was thinking something like that but maybe starting at the front of the hood where the raised part isand running the length of the car, but not sure, still in the planning phase of it. so im open to suggestion
you can get creative in lots of ways with that body style.
think before you do and take your time. a rush job will only leave you with regret.
I would also do the rear door louvers on it.

Does it run? Looks liek the engine has a lot of rust in it. A Caddy is a beautiful car, and you want to do this right. I’d have to see the '59 bumpers on it to give my 2 cents, but if Boomer and some of the other’s say it’s a bad idea, you may want to think twice as that would be some serious $$$$ if you screw up, We are still looking for a permanent Ecto and with our lack of funds, it will probably be a Power Wheels LOL!
How much did you pay for this bad boy? The front bumper for my car was quite…QUITE expensive. I just had to chime in.

WHAT! That’s an amazing price.! A guy here in PA who collects hearses and restores them (he has 18) says if you get a hearse under $1500 it’s a steal. Great find!
