First Build and Thanks!

Thanks to this board for helping me get my first proton pack together before Halloween. I didn’t ask many questions, but believe me, I used my entire data plan looking at proton pack reference pictures. It turned out great. As you can see, at the last minute, I realized that I had reversed the bumper, and there was no time to correct it, but for my wife and I, it looked intentional.

The motherboard is 1/8" aluminum and all of the parts are resin. It was light enough that my wife was able to wear it for the entirety of a 3 hour party.

We took first prize in a costume contest and won a bottle of Veuve Cliquot. My son also won with his slimer costume. A good time was had by all. Again, thanks to this community for giving me the information I needed to finish successfully on time!

Looks fantastic! Especially for a first build! Well done, and congrats on the win!

Thanks! The only unorthodox things on it are the power switch under the ion arm (an idea I got here) and the cyclotron lights (another set of ideas I got here).

To get the light really diffused on the cyclotron lights, I used a 1" PVC 90 and a 1" end cap epoxied together. I sprayed the inside metallic so it would reflect, then I used a red translucent notebook cover (something like this) and theater gels as a lens, then I puttied them all inside. I need to get some pics and post them. I was going to while I was putting it together, but I was so hurried to meet my deadline, I didn’t have time to document much.
