Well, I had made an all cardboard pack before; it was wholly inaccurate and basically made in a couple days before Halloween to wear with my uniform. I added some more stuff to it a few months later for MomoCon 2012, though it was still very wrong.
So, with two weeks before this year’s con and because I’m a horrible procrastinator, I’m finally beginning work on my second pack using Norm’s plans with a few improvised solutions.
So far, I’ve only cut the motherboard using a handsaw, a skill saw, and the sandpaper wheel on my Dremel.
Working on cutting out my gun box now, pictures to follow.
Why not use the more accurate stefans plans instead of norms? Also I wouldn’t start with the motherboard, it’s much easier to build the shell and then trace that to get a motherboard which fits perfectly.
Because I just wanted something simple and a little different for my first pack. And I’m not using a shell; I’m just adding stuff onto the motherboard. Plus, accuracy isn’t really a major component for this build, considering it’s two weeks til the con and I’m flat broke. XP
Not gonna have time to finish before MomoCon, but I’ll keep you updated regardless.
I searched for a White-Out bottle that matched the Clippard valves close enough, but when I couldn’t find it, I improvised and painted a Vitamin B12 bottle we had laying around.
I’ll be using the little thing that attaches it, as well as a strategic hole on the gun, to hide it’s length. Or I’ll cut it. Haven’t decided : P
