flightsuit for a short girl?

Hey, I have been looking for flightsuits all over that wouldn’t be like a tent on me. I’m pretty short, 5’2", and really skinny so I’m having a bit of trouble. I can’t really see any websites that sell the suits in girl sizes so I’m not sure what to do! I have been thinking of ordering from gr8gear (http://www.gr8gear.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=656) using the kids sizes but they don’t have khaki as a color so..yeah.

I really want to find something by Halloween. Any suggestions?

If you havn’t, look in your phone book for any Military Outfitters/Surplus store. There is a good chance they will cary the gamit of sizes available for a military flight suit, or atleast be able to order you one.

You may want to look for a Child’s size flightsuit as well, I had a friend in a similar situation and she wound up getting a boy’s flightsuit and doing a bit of tailoring work to it.

The flightsuits are somewhat porportional to size. I am a small or a medium but I am 6’2" or something.. so I had to get a large or x-large to fit the height way.

Children’s flight suit might be the way to go.. otherwise maybe some tan or khaki “Dickies” work shirts and pants.

suits are kinda based on chest size atleast most of the ones i’ve come across so in a sense… i would start with what chest size you looking for and if you want it to be tight or loose in the chest. As for the middle, you’ll be wearing a belt most likely and a pack if you have one so you won’t see the middle that much and it will be drawn in anyways. as far as lengths go it will usually be in the sleeves and legs so a little stitching here and there should set you up pretty well if your tucking them into boots it won’t matter how nice your stiching is and sometimes i’ve seen girls go with the shortsleeve versions of the jumpsuits (I don’t know if they make them that way or if there simply fixed up by the person wearing them) and you could always roll the sleaves up after sewing them as well you don’t need a sewing machine to do the work just a couple of tacks that are strong will do then iron the area’s so they flatten out and look like they were made from the factory that way.

In reference to my previous post, here’s what her flightsuit turned out looking like:

I think your main problem will be the arm length… That was my friend’s problem at least. She found things that fit and had the right leg length, but the arms were waaaay too long.

All good points!

My wife is 5’2" as well, and she fits the small cheapie flightsuit just fine.

She tucked the legs into the boots and cuffed the sleeves a bit but the GB look is rather loose anyway. And if you’re wearing a belt, pack, and accessories…loose is better.

But if you want a custom flightsuit made to your measurements, it will cost a bit but will be well worth in the long run should become more heavily posessed by this hobby!

Hey thanks you guys

Ron Daniels, can I ask which size she got? I think that’d work excellently.

Good one Ron.

I think she went with a meduim or a large… not sure.. The sleeves are going to be long either way on you most likely. So I would prolly shoot for a meduim.

Wow…a girl? I always thought, you know Ghostbuster wise, no girls were really involved. Good to see that they are. To be honest, with the uniforms, i always use the dickies jumpsuit. It’s cheaper and to me looks just as good.

Ron gets all the girls.

Glad to see you’re still around buddy!!

I’m quite skinny but almost 6’. I did get a Small, but it’s still a bit too long (didn’t think that was possible…generally I have the opposite issue with clothing).
