You already know this Gabe, but I love the new logo. He looks good. The first draft we saw up on our site looked much angrier. I also like that you changed it to a green glow from the blue.
We did get feedback from other Florida groups about our name right after MegaCon, though admittedly we took everyone by surprise when we showed up at the con, and no one really knew about us or that we’d be there. Even so, everyone welcomed and supported us, and we had a blast, not just with the Florida teams but also with the teams that were there from out of state.
We’ve been discussing it since then, but since we were involved in Relay for Life we decided to wait until that was over before making any changes. The local Relay committee had a hard enough time trying to remember our name correctly as it was and even on the awards they passed out on Tuesday they got it wrong. :sigh:
Like was said, we’re all about having fun, getting dressed up and raising money for charity. What we call ourselves is secondary to that.
Yeah, the problem I’ve seen is as soon as you open the gators mouth you loose the emotion and he either looks crazy (because of the wide eyes) or he looks like he is going to attack (because he is a gator and that is what they do).
Personally, I don’t think the gator has to have the exact same expression on his face as the original ghost did, I really just need to get him to a point where I am happy with him.
You know what might help? Rotating the eyebrows out just a bit more (turning the eyebrow on our right clockwise). Maybe curling the back of his mouth down a few degrees? I dunno, you’re the artists here, not I.
I made some small changes, and I think this is now the final. I am happy with the expression, it does justice to what I was intending. Thanks to everyone who tried to help, I’m glad to hear people like it. Even if those Georgia boys don’t like the Florida Gators (honestly, I don’t either) they at least seem to like my logo… so I guess I can’t complain. So here is my final…
Looks good! I like the added chest ridges. I was gonna say maybe add one or two ridges on the tail, but then it would be leaning towards a more live gator. The tail is part of what keeps it looking ghostly.
I like the idea of one Florida group with different divisions. I’ve found some fans around my area here in So. FL’s east coast but I haven’t heard of anything organized here. I think we could get a group together down here, and JayM’s already designed a patch that’s very cool. Wouldn’t mind becoming a part of a larger group though. I’m just not fond of the idea that Florida Ghostbusters would be a group for fans in only one particular area of Florida, however I do think it would be an awesome idea for a central lead organization of all Florida divisions/groups or whatever you wanna call em. I think it would be nice to have a place to go and see where you can find more GB fans around the whole state.
I love the idea of all the Florida Groups unifying under one banner, but honestly it will never happen. Their is no motivation to do so, other than a little bit of bitching every time a new Florida franchise is announced, things work just fine how they are. People like their individual groups, they are free to dislike other groups or members of other groups and their are no major problems that can’t be ignored… other than their just being too many groups, and everyone seems to be willing to ignore that for the most part.
Since I’m pretty new to the boards could somebody tell me what’s the deal with Floridians arguing with each other about new groups? In my opinion it’s just cool to have several different groups around the state that everybody would have a local group to join and be active with. Like I said I don’t know where all the hostility comes from or why, I mean we’re all fans of GB, why can’t we have our own local groups? I don’t see any point in people belonging to a group that’s a few hour drive away from where you live, shouldn’t groups be local to where you live? JayM, do you know if there’s any group/franchise whatever in our area to join or should we start or own?
I haven’t heard of any in our area. They are mostly in Tampa, Central or North FL I think. So we should probably have our own. I know there are never group events in our area, either.
