For anyone who doesn’t know us yet, Florida Ghostbusters is a fairly new group in central Florida. We are coming up on our one year anniversary and are working on a few projects. One of which is we are currently mulling over some possible changes to our group name since we seem to have rubbed some people the wrong way, but I don’t really have any news about that right now… I do however have a new logo that I have been working on, which I wanted to get some feedback on.
There seems to be half a dozen Florida Franchises.. and being called the “Florida Ghostbusters” probably isn’t the best choice as there were many established before you.
Yeah, we’ve had this discussion on here already. Essentially we are almost 2 hours from all the other groups we know of, we are in Highlands County and really feel like it is in our best interest to have our own team rather than be a distant division of another team. We are already working on the possibility of a name chance after meeting and talking with some of the other teams and hearing what some people have had to say. I just don’t have any news on that front just yet…
I would like to point out that is is a pain in the ass to make an alligator look anything but angry… making him look worried/scared was quite a challenge.
but really, keep in mind, you all are into this stuff because you like it, you dont have to appease anyone. there are no real rules or anyone going to say “hey you cant do that” unless they’re dicks. and considering you’ve had this name for a year, why bother changing?
Honestly, for the most part we don’t mind changing our name, we understand why we were asked, we were asked early on and have just taken our time doing so. Besides, it is sort of fun to try and think of new names.
florida ghostbusters does come off a little arrogant but truth is, we are all a bunch of geeks in flight suits and should get along as such. It’s not like you guys are claiming to be in charge of the rest of us or anything. It’s just a name.
I Love the gator ghost replacement. Making him look scared would be better, if you can pull it off.
As far as the name is concerned, I prefer to get along with as many people in the fan base as possible, and hopefully, you guys are of like mind, and can find something that appeas to you, but also helps you to get along with people who might have an issue.
There seem to be a HUGE number of florida groups already, and sooner or later you’ll end up at an event with them.
That’s pretty cool of you. I’d wait to hear if the other teams have anything to say, if they even mind really. I personally have always thought having your own, local name was the coolest way to go about it. The Georgia guys have a great model for that sort of thing. Lord knows that the GBNH guys have always felt a bit undermined by the existence of a New England team title, but what can you do but just have fun and be the best team you can be. Like it was said above, there are no real rules about this sort of thing.
That is part of the reason that “Florida Ghostbusters: Heartland” was thrown out there, because down the road you never know, other groups might want to use the name too. And since we already own the website, rather than let it go to waste, we were probably going to put a directory of the Florida teams up.
But then again, alot of this is just talk right now. We will post some official stuff on here most likely in a few weeks, and at that point we will probably talk to some of the other teams and see what they would like the Florida Ghostbusters name used for and all that jazz. Our group is mostly just into raising money for charity, we certainly didn’t intend to and don’t want to step on any toes. So for now, I’ll just say, trust me, we are working on it.
Thank you to everyone who has given their feedback on the logo, it is appreciated. I’m continuing to tweak it as time goes by. I’m still playing with the expression ever so slightly, I think it works as it is, but I would like it to be a little more “scared”… we’ll see.
I think it would be a good idea to bring the Florida Franchises together under one central organizing body. Kind of like a Ghostbusters International would oversee all franchises, a Florida Ghostbusters would oversee all franchises in Florida.
It would have to be independant of any Florida Franchises.. but if every franchise could have access to maintain it, that would be cool.
