Hi im wondering if any one can tell me the difference between the following 2 items, is one an earlier release in production or is it a variation between international markets?
Venkman may have been first run, and Egon is from a latter edition. My 4 year old son now plays with all four from that very collection, along with Screaming Heroes Janine and Slimed Louis!! XD
Cheers for the info. I thought it might have been the other way around. ![]()
I had the Winston toy. Scary alright!
The Peter shown above is actually a United Kingdom release. There were 2 foreign variations with this cardback for the Fright Features line (the other pictured above). One has english text and the other with French text. I love these foreign cardbacks more so than the US release ![]()
Exactly the info I was after
I did find it a bit confusing as there seems to be a number of variations of packaging.
So would it be correct in saying it was the packaging Egon has came first?
I don’t have the exact release dates available for foreign markets *yet, but I believe that these particular foreign vendors released products relative to the US Kenner release dates. In this case, I would not view these as 1st or 2nd wave variations. I would simply view them as foreign variations, having been released in close proximity to the US Kenner market. Almost all of the European toy manufactures at that time maintained the exact time frame and quality as US markets (Kenner being the comparative in this case). I know this to be true in light of Kenners relationship with foreign vendors such as Palitoy, Toltoys, Kenner Canada, etc when dealing with the release of Star Wars toys throughout the late 70’s and early 80’s. There were also vendors, or markets, that were way behind in production whose release time and quality were nowhere close to that of any of the afore mentioned. Star Wars had many (on account of its widespread success) while Ghostbusters had few. Hope this info helps ![]()

I’ve always wondered what’s with the futuristic costumes? How does it make sense for the Ghostbusters to wear them? I never understood that… :-?
Lol..mostly off topic, but many many years ago, we actually used the Fright Feature costumes in our GBI role playing game. We “explained” them by saying the normal flight suits got shredded by the villain during his attack on GBCentral, and to go fight him at his Evil Hideout the Ghostbusters cobbled the Fright Features costumes out of stuff they had on hand. Venkman:" All I got is my fishing gear!" Winston: “I guess this Captain Napalm costume will have to do” Egon: “Janine says I look good in white, though it shows dirt so easily…” Ray: “Boy am I glad I had this custom pilot suit made”
After that adventure, they went back to the normal flight suits, of course.
