From Dallas to Arlington

Hi there fellas! I need some help from anybody who lives in the Dallas/FW area please… I’ve written to many people before, but nobody has been able to help me so far and i thought I’d ask you fellow Ghostheads to see if anybody can help me…

This summer I’ll spend 3 or 4 days in Dallas, I’m a big Cowboys fan, so that’s the main reason for me to go there. I’m getting a ticket to watch the preseason game against the Raiders, now here’s my question: Can anyone tell me how to get to Arlington from Dallas? I will have no car there and I know DART doesn’t get to Arlington… Can I take a taxi to get there? That would be the best option, but the game will end late, around 11.00 pm and don’t know if there would be any taxi to take me back to Dallas… Or  maybe there’s any bus? I’m travelling from Spain so i need to have this info to plan my trip in advance… I know this has nothin’ to do with Ghostbusters, but I really don’t know where to get this info… If anyone can help I’d appreciate it. Thanks guys.

Rent a car while you’re in town?

yeah, that could be possible too, but what I’d really want is to know if there’s any public transport to get there, my hotel is near downtown, so it’s really no use renting a car just to get to the stadium… If the game ended earlier there would be no problem to get back to Dallas… but I don’t know if I’m gonna be able to get a taxi at 11.00 pm…

You could always call a taxi service and they would send someone to get you.

by the time you pay taxi prices, you could probably have rented something. unless they don’t rent to foreigners?

yep, that’s what I have in mind… I’ve already gotten in touch with some taxi companies in Dallas askin’ for quotes and everything. Just waiting for their response… plus it’s the Dallas Cowboys… there must be any shuttle services to the stadium. Also it is not that far… like 20 miles from my hotel and I’ll try to avoid the traffic hours. Game starts at 8.00pm and I plan to leave Dallas at 1.00 pm, just to take the stadium tour and see a bit of the area

Well, not 100% sure, but I think I can rent a car in the USA with my drivers license… I think people with European licenses are allowed to rent cars in the US, anyway I think I’ll stick to the taxi plan, I’m sure the road signs are pretty clear, but just in case, I wouldn’t like to get lost and miss the game. I can’t wait to get there  Thanks for your help guys!

You barely need road signs. You can pretty much see the stadium from Dallas, it’s huge. I think you can almost see it from Spain, actually.

You might consider moving your hotel reservation from Dallas to Arlington. There’s one just a few blocks from the stadium that’s pretty nice, and walking distance.

Pregame and postgame traffic will be a nightmare either way. Postgame might not be so bad since it’s preseason and the fans will leave when the starters are out of the game. So if you rent a car, you will probably have to sit in traffic and try to navigate your way back to your hotel, or you could arrange a cab to pick you up, and somehow try to find it among the thousands of cars by the stadium. Tough call, man.

You might actually call the ticket office and see what they say. They have a better idea of what public transportation is available on game days and how to get it.

What hotel are you staying at mickey? I live in arlington.

lol well, I saw New Yankee stadium yesterday from my roof, Dallas is a bit farther, but i bet I can see Cowboys Stadium if I make an effort lol

I though about the Arlington hotel, but I’ll stay 4 days in Dallas and there are many things I want to see and do in downtown, I mean, in Arlington I “only” have the Cowboys and the Rangers, but in Dallas theres the sixth floor museum, the Texas State Fair, Reunion Tower, Pioneer park, etc… so I gotta stay in Dallas… by the way, did they close the Planet Hollywood in Dallas? the one that had GB stuff? or is it still there in the West End?

I’m still waiting for a lot of emails form the ticket office (which is across form the Stadium or so they’ve told me), from th hotel and the taxi companies and then I’ll see if we can work something out… maybe my hotel offers a shuttle service, I think they do, but don’t know if they cover the Stadium… Can’t miss my Cowboys, I hope the starters play at least till halftime lol. Thanks for your help!

I’m staying at the Best Western Market Center near downtown, also I’ve been told there’s a Sheraton near the Stadium… I can always go there and take a taxi if I can’t find anything else. Must be a wonderful place to live, I really can’t wait to get there!!

Hey fellas, looks like I got something, the Cowboy Cab company says they can take me to the Stadium and then pick me up again and take me back to Dallas  They’ve told me the taxi, limo and shuttle holding and drop-off area is at the West Plaza of the Stadium and runs fairly smoothly before and after events at the stadium… So I think I’ll give them a call when I hit the town… Now if they kick some Raider ass that would be perfect lol shouldn’t be that difficult, but hey, it’s preseason so everything could happen. Wish I could attend a reg season game but that would be difficult for me living in spain :frowning: I want to thank all of you guys for your help and time and remember, if you ever plan to visit spain and i can be of any help, just lemme know

FYI, the Texas State Fair isn’t running during Cowboys preseason. It’s more of a late Sept.-Oct deal. Good luck arranging your events. PM me if you have any more questions.

:frowning: that’s too bad. Just seen it… it opens from  September 24 to October 17… Thanks for letting me know…Well maybe I can still go there and see the place and the Cotton Bowl. Thanks for your help Michael. Oh, you know if the Planet Hollywood in the West End is still open? I think they have this stunt proton pack on display…

Just saw on wikipedia it was listed under ‘closed locations’.

:frowning: got it. That makes two places i gotta scratch off the things-to-do list. Thanks Michael!

Planet Hollywood sadly closed down years ago. However micky if its packs your wanting to see i can hook that up for you.
