Fully 3D printed Proton Pack

Great Job!

Looks incredible.

What 3D printer are you using?

It seems right to ask who is going to start 3d printing packs, and where does the line start?

Makerbot rep 2

This is fine work. However I think its still a little early for folks to start wanting mass produced 3D packs. As good as this looks I still weep for the many hours that will be spent smoothing all the striations out. At the end of the day…technology just hasn’t caught up to good ole fashioned hand laid fiberglass yet. Excellent work though sir…let me say that again…I think you pack will turn out great once the project is completed.

Thanks!

Awesome thanks!

I’d just like to thank tommyb345 for helping me with this project. Would not have been possible without his suggestions/criticisms/pedantry. Great work…and really ■■■■■■ that you completed yours before I did!

Thanks buddy, same to you.

This project has been totally “Pants”!

What printer do you use?

Makerbot rep 2 but it’s my first printer and I’ve learned much since from using it. There’s so many great kits you can buy to make your own printer for much cheaper.

I use a Mendel90 Mendel90 - RepRap, tommyb345 uses a Makerbot http://www.makerbot.com/

Hashtag gamechanger.

Fully 3D printed proton pack

Ribbon cable, clamps, sync gen, cyclotron, and bumper installed.

And red and blue acrylic lenses installed.

You are convincing me to pick up a printer. Some work to do, but nice

How much of the pack is 3d printed. Percentage wise?

Of course it’s not 100% printed. I needed it to be sturdy enough to wear time and again.

The Mobo is MDF

Wood Screws and socket head screws

The clippard fittings, tubes, ribbon cable and clamps.

The pvc on the thrower

Acyclic tube

Alice frame and straps

And lastly the V-hook

Other than that it’s all printed.

So really 85% printed? Estimated

Fully 3D printed proton pack

Decals applied

Still waiting on the 2 straight clippard fittings to arrive that go next to the PPD

Mine is not as complete as tommyb345’s but I’m getting there.

The only none 3D print parts are the MB and the thrower barrels.
