Nothing to do with being in uniform… but I was chatting on facepalm with an old buddy of mind and I remembered something that happened to us (well, him) about 10 years ago…
my friend Adam was trying to ■■■■ this girl named Debbie. She was super cool and we all dug her as she was the only girl in the course I was taking (although not in our class). Anyway… a few weeks went by and I saw Deb in the office and I said, “Hey Adam, did you two ever uhhh…?” And Adam went pale. He goes “Yeah man, she’s nuts! She was at my place and I kid you not, she goes - FCK ME NOW in this demonic scary man-voice*.” I then laughed for about 5 minutes and Adam goes … “I almost asked her… Are you the GateKeeper?” (Another 5 min of laughter) So, for the next year or so whenever we’d see Deb go by, I’d look at Adam and go “There is no Debbie, only Zuul!”
When I went to get my pass for Wondercon this year my co-workers dared me to go in full GB gear, if I did I’d get 50.00 so I did.
As I was walking up to the Moscone center I passed these to elderly men sitting on a bench. One of them stopped me and asked, " are you here to check for radiation?" and he was serious as he had a look of complete concern on his face. I told him, “no I was checking for Ghosts.” The one elderly guy yelled at me " Don’t be a F****ing Smartass!"
This one guy that was walking by was laughing so hard he almost fell off the curb.
I went out with a girl a couple times who liked to growl during sexual stuff. I broke it off with her, citing that I just wasn’t feeling a connection and that she freaked me out a bit. It was not fun to be pulled out of the moment so many times by her angry-dog grunts.
I realize now that she may have been a terror-dog and I know I made the right decision.
Up until now I usually refereed to her as “the werewolf” when telling the story but this is even better.
the werewolf… lol… yeah man, she’s a Gatekeeper
