Fusion Pack....

Hello all, if you saw my intro thread I’m planning on building a 2010 Next gen design of my own. The pack uses a similar design to the recent videogame with a few modifications. With old parts looking similar but with new names and functions, the pack is a lot simpler as far as what does what compared to the old pack, and a lot of the functions of the old pack have been compressed into the gun.

The pack keeps the dark matter, stasis stream, slime blower, slime tether, meson colder, proton and boson tech, but the new pack has separate areas designated for each function all to be lead down separately to one node, again some functions like dealing with proton and boson particle venting are now assigned to the blaster itself.

There may even be a possibility to ‘plug in’ a smaller blaster to allow double fire. The PKE is built into the main blaster similar to the motion tracker in Aliens. There are two kinds of trap, the new one latches onto any surface and is wireless. It looks similar to the ones in EGB and act on proximity or remote control. So you can place them on a wall or a ceiling and if a ghost comes along, the trap automatically springs open and WHAM. This would fit or attach to the back of the pack, the other trap would be the slam-dunk/fast trap, and would act as a back-up if needed.

I’ll post up the schematics soon. The pack has gone through 3 incarnations already, but feed-back would be appreciated. Not sure when i can get this one built, but if anyone wants to try and build it themselves they are very welcome.

The pack is called the fusion pack, because unlike the previous proton pack it runs on hydrogen fusion rather than nuclear fission, and therefore there is no chance of a nuclear explosion, the disadvantage though is that it requires all components to be functioning 100% for it to work, also If it was a hydrogen-fusion pack, the hydrogen cores would need replacing and could run out. I may just go and call it Proton-Pack Mark X and keep the fission reactor.

PS: Don’t worry the design doesn’t stray away too far from the original it’s just a tribute to both the films, the game and EGB, oh and of course Aliens:)

EDIT: I’ve scanned in my current design, Each entity is separate. Remember names have been redesigned, even if they look familiar they may not have the same function.

Pack w/out blaster or Trap:

Proximity Trap, (inspired by video game workbench/ EGB) The ‘legs’ would stick to any surface, you could even combo it with the tether). the trap would fit in what is now the core-reactor/core reactor casing.

This is a bulky thing, but would pack a hefty punch, can be held in many ways. It’s basically a Nerf Vulcan w/out the ammo pack  http://www.nerfgun.co.uk/nerf_vulcan.php

It certainly would be unique. I hope to see some pics of the completed product before halloween.

Hi proton pulse, this is some interesting venture into uncharted territory. I’m very curious to follow your designs. (Note: your blaster pic link didnt work).

Are you getting inspiration from the video game only or also being creative? Having an outdated computer my access to the video game has been limited. But one thing I liked about the game’s proton packs were their bulkiness, yet your design seems very compact.

Your “technical” background history on your design is interesting. How will you manage to create such star-like temperatures and pressures as those required to fuse hidrogen, in such a portable device? After all you’ll be carrying an unlicensed portable star in your back.
