well I had said earlier that it would probably be in the neighborhood of $35. I think this is fairly reasonable given the time put into each cable, but again, I’d love some feedback so I know what people think is fair.

I’m on the list for a Java cable over on proptopia and that run seems to be at a standstill.
With that being said, I should be finished with my pack in about two weeks and I would love to be a test subject and receive one of the first cables so I can install it on a finished pack and give proper feedback. I have one of the new more accurate cable clamps from the GBFans shop too so we can see how it will look with your cable, Tex. One last thing: I’m always willing to pay an artist what they feel their work is worth, be it $1 or $100, I’m sure your cables will be worth every penny.
I appreciate the compliments everybody. And I must be doin’ alright if I’m being referred to as an artist. vinny, I’d love for you to provide a real bench test from a customer’s point of view. I put one of the prototypes on my brother’s pack today and it looks pretty damn good. I’ll post pictures later. I have to rebuild my pack this week but I’ll try to fit in some time for building cables so I can sell the first two pretty soon.

So I finally got my pack finished which means I finally got to put my GB1 ribbon cable on. I took a ton of pics of the cable on the pack, but here’s just a few. The last few are from Marcon this past weekend. You’ll notice in those pics that I put on some zip ties. Also, there’s one pic of my brother’s pack and cable, which I made a little different than mine (see earlier posts). It looks a little smaller and tighter, which is due to the fact that it has 3 less wires. Anyway, enjoy:

Thanks guys. So far, it does seem like these cables are sturdy. During the twisting/mounting phase, a few spots in the cable came apart, but i also didn’t put as many coats of laminate on as I’d like and when I did spray, it was cold and sort of damp outside so it didn’t set as well as I’d hoped. Still, when twisted properly, the cable holds up really well. And I have to admit, when I finished my pack and put on the zip ties, I just about freaked out. I couldn’t believe I had this cable. Needless to say, now that my pack is done I can focus on building cables for others. Keep an eye out for the for-sale thread soon.

It looks good. Not to be nitpicky but it doesn’t seem wide enough? I can’t tell if it’s your pack or the ribbon clamp that just make it seem that way. Maybe the wire gauge isn’t big enough? I honestly don’t know. I hate to be a naysayer because it looks like a quality ribbon but something just doesn’t seem right.
In this picture, you can see the one side of the ribbon is hitting the piping on the right side of it and is almost hitting the bottom of the injector tubes coming out of the power cell.
Please don’t take this as me knocking your work, it is just constructive criticism.

mburkit, don’t worry about it man. That’s why I posted, for feedback of all types. Truthfully, I think the width on the screen cable could be due to a larger gauge, though I’m not sure given how tight the twisting looks (I had a hell of a time twisting mine). I also think that there could’ve been small spaces in between each wire, due to the manufacturing. Factory made ribbon cables are built differently and behave much differently than my cables, I’m sure. My cable, having the extra light blue wires, stands at about 2 5/8", whereas I’m pretty sure the movie cables were around 3". I may experiment with a larger gauge later on, just to see how it looks. For now I’m sticking with what I have, simply for wire color availability. Once again, thanks for the great feedback.

Matt, the cables in the film appear wider in relation to the placement and width of the cable clamp, until now no one has offered what is considered to be the correct with cable clamp. There was a htread about this recently and it resulted in both MMM and the Gbfans shop redesigning the clamps they sell. the new ones a thicker and more narrow, making the cable appear wider.
Yup, read that thread, and I agree with the conclusion they came to in it. I was just giving suggestions as what it might be, the clamp being one of the “problems” making it seem thinner then it is; because it seemed a little off to me when presented on a pack. It’s still a very nice ribbon cable.
