GB2 Charcoal Uniform

It’s been a long long time since I’ve done a uniform build…Guess I may aswell considering this will be the most in depth uniform I’m ever likely to create.

I’m awaiting delivery of my Gibson & Barnes suits in the next few days so I’ll be using one of the dark grey suits from them.

I have a pair of the GBFans Elbow Pads which I need to modify with the black detail lines

I have my Corcoran boots, although I’m considering picking up a second just to use with this uniform.

I plan on using one of Joe Luna’s GB2 on screen style patches and the new GBFans GB2 Name Patches.

I really need to do pictures of everything I have for the uniform thus far but until then I think I’ll leave you with this image.

The fobs are in no particular order here as I just bunged everything on to the belt. You can’t see it but I also contacted Tyger Cheex to make me a custom GB2 Gizmo holster using Jairus’ excellent plans for that detail.

The belts and fobs were custom made by a friend of mine who works as a costume/prop maker for local productions etc and he was happy to help. We have discussed a run but nothing is really available on that just yet. I’d like it to happen but I don’t know if we can justify the costings for these belts.

I’ll do more photos this week when my suit comes along.

Really looking forward to this uniform build as my first pack build is going to be GB2 semi hero and I’ll need a uniform to go with it. The fobs look awesome and would definitely be interested if you and your friend were to do a run. The belt ready looks immense

Curious, does your belt have metal grommets installed throughout it? I’ve seen them in many GB2 belt builds before, but it’s difficult to see in the photos in the reference section if the originals had them…

Yeah, the screen used builds had the grommets,

This is a picture of Dan Aykroyds screen used belt. My grommets are slightly smaller at least where the OD is concerned, I’m fairly certain the ID is an exact match to the grommets.

When I make some more progress of this, I’ll show a picture of my grommets, unfortunately the majority of my belt is going to be hidden because with a smallish waist, the fobs/gizmo/trap holster etc pretty much swallow the whole belt.

The buckle on the screen used belts used a plastic QR buckle, I’m not really a fan of them so I upgraded to a metal buckle very similar. I got that idea from the belts Bikmesahero built for himself and friends.

My flightsuit is awaiting customs clearance so when I get that I’ll give more images of everything so far.

I still need to make a Gizmo for this belt which I’m not looking forward too, and will probably have to contact Franchesky for a custom GB2 trap holster because his standard holsters will not accept the 3 inch belt.

Very nice looking belt!!

I do like the metal buckle…

Pretty fancy belt!

Your belt was one of the reference pictures I provided in the research file I submitted to the maker, so thanks for the compliments.

I’m hopefully going to get a Lifegard II in the next few days also. (The one on the belt is a IV)

You flatter me, sir.

Ok, I got my flightsuits early last week. Mind blown with the quality of them. I never thought anything would top finding an affordable (bargain priced) Seiko. This suit topped it, along with the GB2 Belt, I sincerely doubt I’ll never wear a Khaki suit again when I’m in gear.

Anyway, some random photos.

As discussed in a recent thread. Gibson & Barnes changed the dye process to this suit, making it more blue than grey. So I got some advice from quietontheset who I must say was very accommodating to my questions. Here is the worst picture showing the blueness of the suit. Taking under natural light, the suit looks extremely blue and nowhere near the accurate colour.

After a few washes, the blue faded and the suit started to look so different in person. At one stage I started to worry I’d faded it too much, but I’m fairly certain I got the colour perfect. In person and in natural light it looks slate grey, and you can see no blueness in the suit to the naked eye, under different lighting the suit goes crazy (Khaki vs Grey all over again!!)

Anyway, my patches from GBFans showed up also. AJ you nailed these things. Perfect font, size spacing, height. Everything.

Anyway, here is a suit with my patch sitting roughtly where it will sit and also the fantastic on screen style patch that was made by Joe Luna. (I’m so lucky to have this, and also to have sourced another for my GB2 khaki suit).

Here’s a picture of my belt which I’ve been asked about so many times. Alongside the fobs and the accurate style GB2 Gizmo holster. I’ve already bought and waiting for delivery for my Lifegard II and also the custom made trap holster for this 3 inch belt. Plus I was lucky to source a good GB2 Gizmo, I’ll post more on that when it arrives.

The only thing I wanna do now is with some left over nylon is make holsters to carry the Sound Level Meter and the Monitor 4 devices. I wanna try and copy Ray’s set up from the park scene (Maybe we’ll get to see this scene in full with the Blu-Ray)

Anyway. from here on in, the only updates will be to show things stitched on, my belt configured properly with the full setup.

Thanks for looking.

I am very jealous!! So what colour did you actually order and what material? I have read that G and B thread but it trails off a little at the end when the colour changed. Did you use the suit customization Vinny had posted? Anything you can think is missing from that thread for when you ordered? I’m on the fence but I’m leaning towards ordering one but there are a lot of variables in a custom suit I just don’t want to screw up.

Looking great!!

It was a pretty simple transaction, you want to e-mail Rita Weldy. Rita knew excactly what I was after when I e-mailed her, she replied to my e-mail asking was I looking a Ghostbusters flightsuit lol.

Anyway, I more or less followed the instructions left by good ol’ Vinny, he’s done wonders for this community, also took the time to answer my questions on Facebook when I had a problem with patch placement. But you don’t need me to tell you all how great he is!!

Anyway, here’s the specs sent Rita.

Sentinel Resolute Dark Grey

Side entry zippers,

No Velcro on the chest,

No FOD cover on the left sleeve pocket but keep P/P portion

Brass zippers-natural with Brass teeth plus wind flap

The suit is insanely blue looking rather than grey out of the box, but after 3-4 washes it looks perfectly grey to the naked eye and when under lights, the ol’ colour magic happens where you can’t tell what colour anything is!!

Hope this helps ya Jay!!!

Shoot, I think this will help everybody!

Sweet! Thanks!! Now, just have to rob a bank for some money…

Need an accomplice? I could use some money to get started on my pack… and a custom made G&B flightsuit sounds pretty good too…

Just take your times and afford what you can, I’ve been collecting/sourcing things in this community for about 7-8 years, enjoy what you have and take your time before jumping into the serious buys!!

Done any sewing buddy? I’m curious to see how it all looks!

Not as yet, I’m currently in the process of buying a house for the 1st time so I’m quite busy with things so this will be a bit of a slow build. I have this week gotten started on my Gizmo for this belt so will hopefully post some updates on this soon.

Ooo, new house, nice stuff!

Huh priorities
