GB2 NES Controller parts questions....

With the season coming up I am starting to get some props together. This year I have decided to finally build up my NES controller but after taking a look at some of the parts I have to go with it, I am going to try and source out some more accurate items.

Many of the small electronics that I have sourced I feel are right not but the biggest pain has been finding matching breadboards. The RadioShack ones just aren’t doing it for me. so…

In the pic below you will notice the left bredboard has multiple grooves. The one running along the back of the controller seems to be a simple white breadboard. I cannot seem to find a perfect match. If anyone has a model number or any type of hint on where I can find near perfect matching boards I would greatly appreciate it. I will post more questions as I continue on with the build…

Also, anyone have a clue on what that black decal on the controller says?

I’m really not convinced that the board on the side is an actual breadboard. I ran into the same issue when I made mine and wound up giving up and using a normal breadboard.

Here’s the label I made for the top:

I am starting to think you are correct Jack. I thought maybe the side board may have been 5 small bus strips put together but the angles are too steep and the scaling works out to be .5" too wide that route. As for the board on the back of the controller I ordered up a 3M white board which is 4.9" x 1.36" which I think should be correct with the scaling.

Also, thanks for posting the decal graphic. Not that I see what you had I can make it out in the screen caps.

A side note to anyone thinking about putting one of these together…Mouser sells ribbon cable by the foot if you order the 2.5" 28awg version and just peel the layer you need. I think that should be close as well.

It’s been so long since I ordered stuff for mine; if I recall, I was going to use a standard breadboard for the front and just paint it white. I couldn’t find one to match otherwise.

I never found the side board. I don’t think it’s a breadboard either.

hey must have had a ton of those FC boards back then. They’re everywhere
