It was the first time I ever got to see it in HD, and for all the complaints about people being able to see through state puft in GB I, the very same thing happened when the Statue of Liberty stepped on the cop car in GBII, saw right through it. The transfer looked pretty good though, I think the tranfer for the GB I Bluray was more detailed though.
Even though I watch both of them all the time, watching it last night brought back memories of seeing it in the theater, and saturday morning cartoons. Good stuff.
Also HDNet only had 1 commercial break per movie, right in the middle of it.
wait/
ARE YOU TELLING ME IT WAS IN HD??!
SCREEN CAPS?
Yeah, HDNet channel played it in what I’m pretty damn sure was true HD a few weeks back. Nick at night on the other hand played both I and II in “HD” last week that was clearly up rezzed from DVD and than also zoomed in to fit 16x9 screens. Can’t wait for a Blu-ray.
Damn, I wish someone would have acquired it electronically and placed it on a website named after a body of water larger than a cove but smaller than a gulf, where buccaneers might be found.
There’s been a high resolution transfer floating around the Internet for a while. I think it’s only 720p, but still better than DVD quality. I’d assume that’s what they showed on that channel as well.
I caught an ‘HD’ version on Nick last week; at least it seemed overall higher quality than either of the DVDs.
You’re speaking, of course, about SwashbucklerLagoon.com? I hear they’re not as reliable as other such sites.
Damn, had I known this I would’ve made a bigger effort to record them!
Nick definitely did not have it in HD, it was uprezzed from DVD and then zoomed up to 16:9
You know, after I posted on this thread I spoke to my co-worker, and I told her that as much as I tried to adjust the sizing and stuff on my TV, the movie was still getting cut off the edges. Well, now I know why, which was my sneaking suspicion anyway.
Update, ION TV had GBII on in HD last night, I caught it in the middle while at my parents house, so I couldn’t record it. It was upscaled to 16:9, but looked more like a real HD transfer than Nick at Nites, but also less sharp than the version shown on HDNet who had it in 2:4.0
