General GB1 belt questions from a noob

So I’m looking to make the belt from GB1 for my costume and I’m looking at the reference and the posts here, but I’m still confused as to what is what and what exactly needs to be on the belt.

I know what KIND of belt is needed and I know that there needs to be a few custom(?) made holsters for things, but what are they called and what are they made from?

I can’t seem to find any pics of the walkie talkie holster, and I still have no idea where that yellow tube goes to from the pants (does it go to the proton pack, or does it connect to the belt somewhere?). And what is used for the hose connector to the suit, what is it called in real life so I can go and buy one somewhere. What is the electric circuit boards used for and what kind of board are they generally made from?

If someone could reply with pics as well as an explanation it would help tremendously.

  1. Almost all the holsters are custom made for the parts they fit. The belt circuit is a modified tape measure holder, the trap holster is custom made, and the MT500 Radio holster is a motorola leather walkie talkie holster.

  2. The yellow hose runs from the leg hose connector to the back of the belt and terminates there. Most people use a keychain holder to attach it to the belt a secure it. It has no function. The connectors are all fan made and need to be bought from AJ in the shop, or Thiago aka GhostbustersFreek

  3. The circuit board is made out of a vintage calculator from that era, and is very sought after amongst collectors. Your best bet is to make one out of craft supplies that are easily sourced. Real parts found on the calc board can also be sourced, but need some time to hunt down. My nixies came from Russia. Tutorials for the circuit build can be found here http://www.tk2441.co.uk/gb-belt.htm , but dont match the calc board 100%, they are your best option.

  4. There is nothing wrong with asking questions here. Just make sure you search your ass off before you post. IF AND WHEN you cant find something, THEN post a question, or catch a veteran board member in the chatroom. Otherwise face the wrath of the people who complain about duplicate posts. Welcome to the forums.

there’s more than one way to skin a cat…but if you wanna be screen accurate, there’s really only one way to “skin the cat” and that’s to follow solid gold caddy’s advice. If screen accuracy isn’t important, you’ll find plenty of good solutions from prop builders on the site who’ve tackled all the problems that you’re about to face. good luck and don’t get discouraged.

thank you guys, I just got back from my first search and only was able to secure the 1/2" plastic tubing, though it’s clear, not yellow.

EDIT - I just decided to order the yellow tube and khaki belt from this site, but the custom electric board holster and key chain thing from this other site won’t work, as in, I go to submit my order and it says the email for the site is invalid…

This is the error I get…

“The public email address on this account is invalid. Your form was not sent.”

did you use the contact us form?

I just tried it and it worked fine

Yeah, that’s what I tried to use and gave me that error, I’ll try it again right now.

edit - just tried again and it went through, that was odd.
