Ghostbuster jackets?

Has anyone made or tried to make a jacket that resembles the ghostbuster uniform?

I’ve seen a guy selling some but didn’t know if anyone here might have got one to comment on quality. I looked into air force flight jackets since they have a flight suit look, but I don’t like the satin exterior.

Maybe there are some inexpensive but nice looking khaki/gray jackets somewhere that would lend themselves to this project. With winter coming up I think it’s a neat idea.

I’ve seen people take flightsuits and cut 'em at the waist. Hem up the end, and voila, instant jacket.

Myself, I plan on eventually getting one of the really jumbo-sized GB patches and slapping it on the back of a brown leather jacket. Just to chill in when I’m not lugging a pack around.

Wow…this made me remember a custom jacket by dad brought back for me when the ANG sent him to Thailand. It was a pretty basic black satin jacket with a huge Ghostbusters logo embroidered on the back. And it was really high quality. I remember the stitching never having frayed and the logo looked dead on. I wonder what happened to that jacket…

I’m in the process of making a Dickies GB jacket. It has the jumbo patch on the back and the name patch on the front. I’m hoping to eventually get a franchise patch on the arm.

The jacket I’d love to track down is that funky flannel windbreaker whatever thing with the elbow pads that Peter wears in GB1 at the fountain.

I bought this tact jacket

It reminded me of the top half of a flight suit(GBCD uses Navy blue suits) so I bought it, if you have BDU bottoms it look like your wearing a flight suit when zipped up

I had this idea before, never got around to it though

I also had the same idea. I had a jacket I could do this with but it was too green.

would something like this work, slap some no-ghost patches on it a voila!

first one Khaki color

second one sand.

they both would kinda look like a flight suit.

i had thought about using a Dickie’s work jacket and putting a logo and name patch on it just like the flightsuit

I’m somewhat handy with a sewing machine, so I altered a Green Pepper F858 Frenchglen Barn Jacket pattern to get this:

Where do you get a jumbo sized Ghostbusters logo patch? I’ve been searching for one, I want to get a MA-1 flight jacket and sew it on the back. possibly with our franchise patch on the arm.

This is where I got mine from.

Also the military issue CWU-36/P is the closest thing you’ll find to a flightsuit-style jacket, but I’ve never seen one in khaki, only sage green.

Thanks for the info! I went to the site and ordered it..as well as the PKE patch, had to bookmark the site as well way too many cool patches there.

thanks agian!

What do people think about this jacket?

Also A friend of mine suggested for the back logo to use red and white spray paint and the detail to use a sharpie, would that work / look good? Thanks!

To be honest, I’m not sure how much I’d like micro-suede… and I’ve seen other coats that have (at least somewhat similar) front breast pockets.

Also, instead of paint and markers, I think it’d be a lot simpler and more professional looking if you just look for a place in your area that does silk screening.

I did a quick ebay search and (you can find it too search ghostbuster jackets on ebay) does anyone Know if this is legit? Or what not? Any experience with this seller? I looked at the feed back and haven’t seen a thing on them. thanks!

Hey all,

Just thought I’d include my own take on a GB2 jacket to further the examples.

I just used a military styled jacket (similar to M-65 field jacket) that I found at Old Navy a while back. The pockets, although not a perfect mirror of the flightsuits maintain a similar vibe of utility.

It gives me an awesome way to sport a Ghostbuster uniform on an everyday regular basis. Pair it with some matching cargo pants and it gives the feel of a full flightsuit fairly well.

Nice. I love the look.

That actually looks really cool!

I finally got my jacket some what done, I will put a name patch on it later.
