GHOSTBUSTERS: CON-VOLUTION! Out June 23rd

Ah, cheers for the info Kingpin. Looks like ebay for me aswell for this one.

Con-Volution - on sale - NOW!

Jim!

Just picked up my copies, I got both variants.

Will be available in the GBFans Shop tomorrow.

No Spoilers below… just general comments about why I liked it…

Picked my copy up today at lunch and read it already. I really enjoyed it for a few reasons. Yes, the artwork was excellent and the character portrayals were great but the story is what I really liked. It seemed to have a different twist. It wasn’t the same old ghost busting that we have had in the past. It was a nice break from the norm. It had some cool old school throw back moments yet still kept the story new and current.

I will wait to give details till later when everyone has read it but for now… just wanted to chime in and say I give it a very positive review!

Did you get the Retailer Incentive cover, too?

Jim!

I know I said it on facebook, but great issue jim. You and keith did a fantastic job, I would love to see you guys do it monthly. Josh’s art was fantastic as well and fit the book well.

P.s. I emailed IDW today jim:)

I did not, my shop didn’t have it. :frowning:

I got all 3 covers; the first place I went to didn’t have the incentive cover, but it was in their system…priced at $10 (wtf).

The indie shop around the corner had it at normal price, plus the 2 regular covers.

Hey, congrats! So glad you found it without being gouged - I’d be the very first one to tell you not to pay anything more for it. Its fun to have but honestly, its simply Josh’s cover without the trade dress.

Jim!

What can I say; I’m a completist  (and a fan of his artwork)

So…anybody else read it? Did we kill the license in one fell swoop?

Honest opinions wanted. Thank you to all who bought a copy. From what I understand sales were very good.

Jim!

I loved it.

I liked it, Ray is defiantly a fan-boy lol

still waiting to get mine in from Graham Crackers. Wanting to keep a “complete collection” I’ve been buying through them to get the RI covers. Last week they had a 5.00 off email coupon - which covers their shipping cost. So I just got all three from them - no tax, no shipping.

I read it and I thought it was very good. I’m glad that the story was very character based and I think you got the personalities pretty well spot on. I also loved the idea of having the real GB’s encounter GB cosplayers and actually use their costumes. Good bit of irony there (and brings to mind Ernie Hudson  ). I thought the beats and the pacing and the rythym and stuff was all great, and a lot of the comedy had a slightly old school feel to me - especially the ending with Ray. …So I’m definitely anxious to see more from this crew. I think you’ve got strength in all areas - line art, colors, writing, dialogue, etc.

The only thing I disliked were a few of the jokes. Like Egon saying “ooo yeah baby, Egon like it..” - that was too much IMO. And then Venkman reusing the line “don’t ever use my name and [blank] in the same sentence” felt really sour too. So yeah, just keep it real and keep it fresh.

We still have some of these left!

You choose the cover!

Ask and ye shall receive!

Thanks, gang! Really glad people are digging it. It goes without saying that Keith and I are champing at the bit to write more GB stories, and we know we’ll get even better as we go along. So if you done dug it, tell IDW

Btw, ghoulishfright, the two dialogue examples you cite? One of 'em was Keith’s and the other was mine - I was glad it wasn’t just me

Jim!

Spoilers ahead, if you havn’t read this yet then turn back

Just read mine and I found it perfect! As stated the boys where in great character, specially Venkman. The GB cosplayers where a fantastic idea! It was clever and the situation (to me anyways) went from funny to busting my guts laughing. The art was ideal for this story in my mind. Very “Batman Gotham Adventures” and brought me back a few years ago when the series was coming out. Wish the producers would have gone with a similar style for the real Ghostbusters toon back in the day. I didn’t really find anything negitive about the comic itself, the only confusing thing I found about it was the busters didn’t do any busting. That can be taken two ways to some people. One they dis-like the idea of Ghostbusters not busting any Ghosts or Two (myself included) it brought something new to the table, something that was refreshing and made me relise while the equipment is a huge part of the GB universe, it goes to show that they don’t always need to use them or depend on them and can defeat evil at any time. I congrads you on this amazing comic book and I enjoyed it very much and will continue doing so when ever I re-read it. Hopefully we get more material from you and the rest of the crew in the coming months and so on

I’m in two minds about this one to be honest. I like the ideas put forward and the general story and there were some really great character moments but it felt like something that should have appeared between two more serious stories, as a pleasant breather that kind of helps after something big happens. The story was a lot of fun, but I still had some minor gripes about it, mainly concerning the balance between the scary stuff and the comedy. It felt like it was leaning too much towards the comedy side of things. It just felt imbalanced to me, in regards to the scary/funny and the science/science fiction that always held the GB movies and the best of the cartoons together. Regardless, it was still a fun cartoon, I just think this would have rubbed me better had it been part of an ongoing Ghostbusters book. When something is released as a one-shot it never holds up as well to scrutiny in my mind. Good work though, Jim, I did have fun reading it!
